Memory Research Paper
Memories, take that in for a moment really think, what are memories? Memories are sometimes very vague, or other times they are the most descriptive moving or still images in your head, taking you back to a time or place that was either horrific or outstanding. For me, a memory that sticks in my head is a culmination of the best times I have ever had. Some of my fondest memories came from my twenty fifteen football season.
I remember every game in my head as if I am watching them play over and over and over again in my mind. Thinking back, I can see mistakes that I made and plays and tackles I messed up on, but also big accomplishments, plays, and tackles I don't even know how I was able to do. The order of the games from week one lead up

A week later, we were back to the fresh cut green grass with freshly painted white lines that we called home field, playing the Crusaders. The Crusaders were an undefeated team for the past three years. We made a great showing, and gave them a true run for their money but ended up with a loss. They were ahead by five points; if we would have pulled through and completed our last play in the endzone, we would have won. Unfortunately, the pass was dropped and we went on still proud knowing that nobody had ever gotten that close to beating them. Another week of hard work went by, and we were coming up on the Raiders ready to fight. It was one of my favorite games of the whole season because it was a 48 to 0 win and off we went to the playoffs! The first playoff game was against the team that made it to the championship game the year before but lost. This year it was going to be a different story….we were the ones who went to the Super Bowl to face the Crusaders again! We won that …show more content…
At that point, we were going to the Superbowl and knew who we were going to have to face. The still undefeated three-time super bowl champs the Crusaders. Super Bowl day came and it was a cold, wet, and rainy day. The field was as torn up as it could be! It was 95% mud with just a few grass spots here and there, and it was only getting worse as the game started. The indescribable feeling came, the one that you get under those lights while hearing your name being announced for everyone to hear and knowing that this is it-- this is the championship game and the last game of the season. That feeling is nerve wracking, but incredible at the same time. The game went on, but we went into halftime behind by one point (seven to eight). We entered into the locker room and our coach gave us a talk about how we needed to step it up for the next half and. We did until there were three seconds left on the clock. Our team was winning by five points with only a few seconds left on the clock. It was fourth and eleven, but they went for it. They threw a pass that was thrown short, and it went into the hands of our cornerback. At that point, I thought it was

When the Newark Panthers were in the locker room Luke Williams gave a speech saying “that we came here to defy all odds to show that we are worthy to win the super bowl and that we are no ordinary team but we are an extraordinary team that has the potential to win it all people will remember this year because of our comeback to win it all, starts now!” The whole entire team went insane and it didn’t even feel like they were losing.…

If you have ever play football right when you step out of the car you smell the fresh cut grass. It was at the best field to play at. The 1 and 2 wear quarter was going excellent . I had like 5 touchdowns and rushed for about 130 yards in that game. Now it was my turn to run the ball.…

Quite possibly the most significant time of my life was during my senior year as part of the Edison High School football team. The story of our 2006 season is a reflection of my life and testimony to my beliefs and values. Underdogs from day one, we represented not only our school, but also our community and families. Early expectations of the 2006 Eagles were low and the surrounding community was under the belief that Edison would be lucky to go 6-4 with the inexperienced players and the loss of such a talented senior class. Suddenly, I was starting as the outside linebacker/defensive end for the first time in my career along with 18 brand new starters. Unexpectedly, a green group of replacements were 5-0, half-way through our season. After…

The day had finally come. No it wasn't Christmas or the New Year, Kwanza or even Easter. It was the the most glorious day of all days, the Superbowl. Now for anyone who has never heard of the Superbowl and lives in America, that person has either lived in a cave for their whole life or…well that I think would be safe to say that's probably the only case because everyone knows what the Superbowl is. Anyway, this Superbowl Sunday started off just a little bit different than most Superbowl's I've had off from work and for any of this day to make any sense for anyone that wasn't there, I'm going to have to start by including some background information on the previous events that led up to this day.…

I had scored a multitude of times that game, and felt extremely accomplished. The whole team received championship trophies and celebrated. That is the old trophy that still sits on my desk. Looking back, I wouldn’t necessarily say that winning a second grade flag football championship was my biggest accomplishment, but that one trophy led to six more years of football, my interest in lacrosse, and everything in between. And every time I look at that trophy, not only do I remember that day in second grade, but I gain a sense of perseverance and determination for the things to come in my…

Memory is such an intricate part of our brain. Memory allows us to learn, recall, and store important life events. Memory is “the mental capacity or faculty of retaining and reviving facts, events, impressions, etc., or of recalling or recognizing previous experiences.” (Dictionary) Memory holds valuable information that has made an impression in some way or another. Just like our mind, memory is composed of multiple systems. The 4 most common systems are declarative, episodic, procedural and mental imagery. Episodic memory is memory from personal experiences, or memory that we see from our own point of view. Declarative is memory of facts, stuff that is true. This system is particular used for school, to remember items needed for tests, papers, etc. Procedural Memory is how we do things, like remembering how to cook or how to get somewhere. And finally, mental imagery, which I remember how things looked, like the shirt I wore yesterday was…

The running back was right there. When I went in for the tackle I got hit. I dropped. Sitting there thinking "what the hell just happened". It turned out to be my buddy that smoked me in the head. I also remember the other team saying "ooooo". When I got up I didn't think to much of the hit but then a few plays later I soon got called off the field. When I got called off the field I was sweating hard. That being, I took off my football gloves. Next thing I know I looked down…

The Chargers were up to punt. The Chiefs anticipated the punt and returned the ball to the 25 yard line. This time the Chiefs took the ball 75 yards for a touchdown. The Chargers now had the ball. This drive capitalized in a two yard touchdown run followed by the two point conversion, so the game was now tied 20-20. The Chiefs got the ball and proceeded to have a three-and-out. The Chiefs were in a bad situation. The Chargers had the ball with under 5 minutes left and good field position. The chargers got the ball down to the 15 yard line with under a minute to go. The Chiefs’ loss was inevitable. My grandpa and I began to get out of our seats and head out of the stadium, when suddenly there was a monstrous roar from the crowd. I turned around to see that Philip Rivers had fumbled the snap and the Chiefs had recovered the ball. It was a second life for the Chiefs. The Chiefs were unable to score in the remaining 48 seconds, and were forced to punt and head into overtime.…

It was a crisp cold fall day at Lambeau field. I could see everything that was happening the whole entire time. The field was as green as a tree in the middle of Summer. The cold wind was whistling in my ear. The smell the hot dogs, burgers, and turf from the field filled my nose as the game begin. All I could hear were people cheering on the Packers and the jumbotron blaring, “Go pack go!” I could see the running back Eddie Lacy drive the ball into the end zone and everyone went wild. A mix people cheering and screaming filled my ears. After the opposing team returned the ball everyone started cheering, “Defense, defense, defense!” The watched the ball get intercepted and run down the field for another touchdown! The crowd roared and I got…

It’s a feeling that is so indescribable even I can’t put into words how you feel. The day of the competition had finally arrived and even though my team was prepared, we felt anything but that. All we wanted to do was our best and hit a clean routine and make our coaches proud. Of course we wanted to defeat our rival, but that isn’t something you can have a mind set about. Right before we went on, we always have a group huddle filled with encouraging words and prayer. Once we hit the stage it was muscle memory. The enormous stage lights and screaming crowd was motivation for us. It’s like we were home. To say we did great was an understatement, we not only executed everything perfectly, we performed the cleanest routine we have done the entire year. Our hearts were so full of joy after hitting our last motion. The minute the music ended we all jumped for joy on the competition floor knowing we had done everything to our best potential. Awards arrived and of course, us and our rival team held the top two spots. The agony from waiting was nerve-wracking. The announcer finally got to announcing the second place team - our rival. We had done it. My team had yet another national championship title under our belts. They announced us as the national champions and we would be taking home jackets and a full-paid bid to Amazing, a competition for only the top in the state. My teammates and I were ecstatic about the victory, but also so blessed to have won it with our family.…
