In fact, I met many of my close friends by just sitting with random people at lunch, something that i would never do at my old school. I also changed academically, whether it be how I study or the amount of effort I put into my classes. In middle school I did not really try as hard as I should have, mainly because school was free and I considered Middle School, specifically eighth grade, as a somewhat insignificant period between elementary school, where you learn very important topics, and high school, where you also learn very important topics. For example, at the beginning of the school year I joined the investment club and thursdays quickly became the best day of the week. However in middle school I never took part in any extracurricular activities, whether it be drama, orchestra, or yearbook committee. Instead I showed up to school at 7:45 in the morning and i left promptly at 2:15, not wanting to stay a minute extra. I enjoy the investment club because I am fascinate how you can practically win money as long as you are able to read the market. It is also good because it prepares me for the future when I have more money, potentially student loans, and when I eventually retire.
