Leadership Philosophy Through my ten years in the Army, I have experienced good leaders and bad leaders. I strive to be a great leader and set an example for all to emulate. Respect and integrity are extremely vital to me. Everyone deserves the right to be treated as human beings and treated as they wished to be treated. Always remember, strive to do right at all times even when no one is watching. Additionally, taking care of Soldiers is one of my top priorities. I firmly believe that if you take good care of your Soldiers and earn their trust, your Soldiers will have your back no matter the circumstances. Respect, integrity, and taking care of Soldiers, is what I believe makes an organization a positive environment. Having a positive environment shows a successful organization. It is important for leaders to be effective.
My leadership philosophy did not crop from reading books; it is part of my foundation as a Soldier. I learned work ethic as well as many management principles as a young adult. Crises in my part-time employment were learning opportunities. Combat experience also fostered the ability to deal with crisis.

Subordinates have always been undervalued, yet they are responsible for the workload. Taking a team from the ordinary to the extraordinary needs understanding and embracing effective leadership styles. Alexander the great agreeably quoted, “I am not afraid of an army of lions led by sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by lions.” Therefore, leaders in our organization determines the success of the team and the unit as a whole.     Leadership is an art, not a science. Therefore, we as senior leaders must professionally develop our junior soldiers through experience, counseling and mentoring. We must mentor our soldiers to be ethical standard bearers and to live up to and enforce Army valves. 1. Teamwork: As leaders we must work as a team in every aspect of training. Soldiers need to cooperate with each other and become one. A well-disciplined caring team will build cohesiveness, which is a bond that no force can break. Soldiers will not play the Officer against the NCO if they truly understand you are one. I will personally be involved in individual training and will insist we are trained. c. Communication: Along with teamwork, communication is what soldiers normally see as a command failure. Soldiers must be able to use the chain of command and chain of support, both formal and informal. I expect every soldier to utilize communication to its fullest extent. As soon as a leader gives directives to soldiers, I expect the details to be worked out and soldiers to receive the information rapidly. d. Leadership: This is in no way a zero defects business.
