Within just six years, Milton went from winding poverty to immense wealth! Milton's Crystal A Caramels were a huge hit! He always went by the quote "Give them Quality" and never wanted someone to have a bad experience while eating his candy. Milton's caramel company was growing, soon employing over 1300 men and women. After going on a trip to the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, 1893 it would transform his life and career forever. Milton was in love with the German chocolate and couldn't get over the cocoa. He new only wealthy people could afford chocolate, and wanted to change that. Milton wanted everyone, Big and small, wealthy and poor, to witness chocolate and afford it.
Now, with his new machinery, Milton could now coat his caramel with chocolate. MIlton's caramel demand was growing, but wanted to make a whole new company. He remade his entire business and sold the caramel company for one million dollars. He moved back to his hometown, Derry Township in Pennsylvania and opened his newest business, named after him. Growing closer to the boys through every day, it seemed as if they were a part of the Hershey family. Before his death in October of 1945, Milton contributed his wealth to the school of orphaned boys. He donated this wealth so he would know completely that the school would succeed after his passing. After creating the Hershey trust company to ensure the school would succeed, he decided to also donate to even more programs. He created "The M.S. Hershey Foundation" to ensure the education and ethnic activities in his town would surely be funded.
Today, Milton's chocolate business flourishes just as much, if not more. Making it the number four out of the top ten best chocolate bars on many sources.
