UNITS: 105, 108 Explain the factors and tensions that may affect the ability of young people and significant others involved with them to address their anti-social and/or criminal behaviour
There are many factors in young people when addressing their anti-social and criminal acts, most young people will be quite arrogant and defiant in accepting that there behaviours have been inappropriate and will not want to listen. Some young people will not understand the reason why their behaviour is unacceptable because they are in denial and they would also have an answer for the cause of their actions to try and justify making them feel right. Other risk factors which may be evident is there learnt behaviour meaning if a young person or child were to live in an environment which was very hostile and abusive they would know no other way to behave socially or been taught what is inappropriate or appropriate behaviour so family and life style plays a big part of how behaviours effect young people. Language delays or any form of impairments can also play a big part, as young people with impairments may not understand how to control certain behaviours using alcohol, drugs.
Explain how to enable young people to express their views and understanding of their own behaviour and the effects of their behaviour on significant others.
The way that I have encouraged children and young people to express their views is when I carry out weekly key work sessions this provides me with a chance to observe, assess and develop my relationship with young people making it easier to identify and resolve their problems etc. Every young person is different and some like to talk formerly in meetings and others informally this is where I and child can go for a walk or whilst undertaking an activity. Other ways of enabling young people to express their views is to encourage them to write their feelings down in a diary or write letters, young people
