It was always a dream of mine to be the VP of Juniors for Midwest NCSY ever since 7th grade. I wanted to take my love and devotion and bring it to the table to make Junior NCSY better than it ever was. In order to get the position that I wanted I had to be voted by the people, and give a speech. I had stage fright and was terrified to speak, but I pushed myself and did it anyways. After so many years of hard work, so much time preparing, I didn’t get the position I so much desired. Immediately I was surrounded by my friends, and I ran out of the room. Through the tears running down my face I told my chapter director that this wasn't it for me, that I will still get up there and I will run again next year, because I will not give this one up. Of course, I will try again, but this time I will succeed. This year I serve as Midwest NCSY’s VP of Juniors as well as am the President of my chapter. “If you don’t succeed try try again.” The classic middle school picker up-er, that really defines me. Throughout my life there have been times where people doubted my far fetched dreams but I ignored what they said and reached for the stars anyways. This “flaw” to me isnt really a flaw at all, to other people maybe, but to me it's what's gotten me as far as I am
