Mountain Gorillas In The Mist

In the movie Gorillas In The Mist, I learned how a civil war can affect the economy and ecology of a country. The area of the Congo and Rwanda, in the midst of a civil war, was spending most of their money on military resources, (Weapons, soldiers, transportation). The native people started to struggle with feeding their family, providing shelter, and other resources. That would later be pillaged by any militia or army group that would come through their village. When an individual needs to make money they look for what is easily available, attainable, and valuable. One resource in the Congo-Rwanda area was the Mountain Gorillas. The Mountain Gorillas, valuable for their hands and head were used for trophies and ash trays on the black market.
