students.
During my time at the school, I have created and taught four lessons, one of which was evaluated by my co-op teacher. My first lesson which was about math did not turn out as expected; the students were losing interest and it started to become noisier. At this moment, I felt a little overwhelmed as being the center of attention and teaching material was a first for me. So I stopped the lesson and asked the students what would make the lesson better and more entertaining. To my surprise, the students were really helpful and provided suggestions like using the smartboard, watching videos and doing activities. The supportive atmosphere along with my daily reflections really helped me gain the courage and confidence to deliver better lessons.
From that point on, I started bringing in smelly stickers, handouts and anything that engaged the students because I realized that when they are having fun learning, I too have fun and feel accomplished. Therefore, the feeling associated with teaching truly is rewarding.
