My English 211C Class
Throughout my education experience all my English classes have typically been the same. We would learn maybe a few new things, but overall every English class was about the same. I could not say that my English 211C class falls in that category because we talked a lot about current issues. I was not really expecting us to talk about current issues as much as we did. At first it through me off because it was not what I was used to in an English class, but I grew to like talking about current issues. I learned how important it is to keep up with current issues because if I live in this world a lot of things that go on in the world can affect me. It was also different because we got a topic and that is the topic we conducted all our assignments …show more content…

On my English 211C journey I learned that I like learning about current issues, I became a much better writer, I learned how to effectively present an argument as well as find the middle ground for that argument, persuade readers to choose a certain side of that argument, and I also learned about a new way to layout an argument. The first assignment we did was an exploratory essay. This is where they just presented different viewpoints of this argument. This assignment was a little bit difficult because this is where I first begin really researching my topic and because I originally thought this paper required me to identify the different sides to the argument which requires more research. When I first laid it out I did different sides, but we only really needed the different viewpoints. The viewpoints were basically who was talking about the issue. This first assignment really helped me learn a lot about my topic because once I figured out the right way I needed to take I realized it was more of an assignment to help me lay out my research. The second assignment we did was a middle ground essay. The middle ground was difficult to me because I felt like I was more on one side of the argument and I believed in a way and I thought …show more content…

I also made it difficult for myself because the entire semester I was trying to find sides and argue for a side, but most of the assignments did not require me to do that. I also learned the importance of asking questions as well as the use of the writing center. Without those factors this semester would have been very difficult, but due to the clarity they ensured me I was able to come out on top. I learned more about what works for me as a writer such as when I am conducting research and reading different articles it is helpful when I write down key things within the article. I learned that I do better with a paper when I do an outline then I write my rough draft on paper then I type it. I also learned a lot about life because it was all about current issues which I did not really keep up with until this class, but I regret not keeping up with them before this class. I find current issues very interesting and I like exploring the different viewpoints and why they believe that. I also learned that in life when someone does not agree with you it is good to still listen to their side although you may not agree because most of the time you guys can find something you can agree on then you can compromise. Compromising is very important in everything because everyone will not agree with everything you

Accordingly, the possibility that the culprit would intervened in the case at the production stage in the factories was disappeared. Police assumed that the culprit would entered many different retail chains in Chicago and added solid cyanide to some of Tylenol capsules. However, since there was no witness who claimed that he or she saw someone was doing something with Tylenol in the stores, police supposed that the culprit would add cyanide at another places. And, after adding cyanide into the capsules, the culprit would put the capsules into the bottles of Tylenol perfectly and put them on store shelves. And, unfortunately, victims bought one of those poisoned Tylenol as usual. After a massive re-call of Tylenol, three more poison-tampered bottles were founded at different stores in Chicago…

One of poets best and unique writer, whom live have changed as a teenage little girl, shortly after she marries Tomas Dudley, was on the voyage to a new world “America”. This quite amazing child was Anna Bradstreet, who later in her journey wrote “Here Follows Some Verses upon the Burning of Our House” This poem, without doubt, as of many off her poems, is a pure example of Puritan writing. The first several lines of the poem indicate her truly believe in faith and values. As of one of those chilling moments of her live, Anna’s poem is entirely about her own feelings as she haplessly watches her house burning as thousands of kindles. Her writing makes readers as if they were experiencing same emotions and thoughts as she was at the time. Anna’s way of rhymes affects the way the entire poem flows as each rhyme has a unique feeling, emotion, and interpretation. Also, it abides the reader to process the two rhyming lines together before going on to the next few. As a very well educational woman, her choices of words are one of the consciousnesses with extremely strong connotations. Using such as words as ashes, ruin, fire, succor-less, and more, are an indication on extraordinary severity of the damage as her home is at the edge of being destroyed by the fire, with all the possessions and memories. On the other hand, she contracts those words with vocabularies such as treasure, love, and hope. These two unalike groups of descriptions through these words, describes material possessions, and the other on her faith and affiliation with God. This is obviously suggestion that Anna’s first priorities are God and salvation.…

I learned that sometimes leaving your writing for last minute can be a bad thing because they begin to write nonsense in order to get there work done. My peers writing assignments showed me what are the correct things to add to my paper, and what not to add to my paper.…

Throughout the semester, the Year Eight class have studied figurative language, Shakespeare, persuasive and narrative writing, as well as reviewing the role punctuation plays in ensuring clarity in writing. Chloe is a very friendly and capable student who has consistently produced work of a solid Year Eight standard. She can sometime allow herself to be distracted in class, this means that she often runs out of time to effectively edit her work. As a result of this she sometimes misses punctuation and grammatical errors that could have easily been corrected. In order to improve, Chloe will need to re-evaluate her use of class time to ensure that she leaves herself enough time to carefully edit all tasks before she submits them. I wish her all the best for next year.…

This class has helped my writing in the way that I now try to think of the audience that I am writing to and how they will intemperate my message. I try to make sure that I do not push my opinions in such a way, as it will shut the reader down to the message I am trying to relay to them. As far as the analytical skills used when reading and thinking I feel the change has been a little bigger. When reading I find myself trying to see into what the author is trying to say or teach. I also find myself trying to figure out what type of person the might be and what guides their writing styles. Normally I would just read a story or article and take it at face value. During this semester we analyzed scenarios such as Will’s request and requiring ultrasounds before administering an abortion. I believe that Ethics is the ability to analyze a situation and come to a conclusion in a more logical manner. This has allowed me to be able to look at situations in my daily life a little more objectively that I had before.…
