After spending eight hours sleeping, breaking your fast with a well-balanced, healthy meal is the best way to start your day. According to Mullan “Breakfast skipping was very common.18% of children in England skip breakfast and 8% of children in Australia don’t have breakfast either.” (264).It means that a large number of students go to school without eating breakfast. “Breakfast is the most commonly skipped meal in adolescences”(264). As a teacher, I asked them why they skipped breakfast and I got three main reasons. Some of students told me that they didn’t want to be late for school when they got up late. So they had no time to eat. Some of them said that they didn’t like the breakfast and other students, especially the girls considered that skipping breakfast could lose weight. As far as I am concerned, they didn’t recognize the benefits and the importance of the breakfast. In fact, since eating breakfast not only contributes to their health but also can improve their study, it is necessary that children should develop the habit of eating breakfast and keep a balanced diet.
The consumption of a healthy breakfast is important to health, such as having lower blood cholesterol levels, tending to be thinner. They skip breakfast thinking they 're cutting calories, but by mid-morning and lunch, they are starved, which will cause them eat more at lunch time and dinner. What’s more, because regular breakfast eaters are full of energy in the morning, they are more likely to exercise regularly, which is helpful to keep fit. In Mullan’s survey, “breakfast skipping was more strongly associated with being overweight than physical inactive in a large sample of 13-16 year old adolescents”(264).On the other hand, “Nutrition-related chronic diseases (e.g., type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and obesity) are increasing in
