My mother was able to stay home and take care of me daily for three months until she found me a good babysitter and had to return to work. My first babysitter was not a good fit for me because she was spend more time watching Jerry Springer than taking care of me. My second babysitter was wonderful but she had to relocate because of military obligations. My mother finally asked Mrs. Christine Pelzer to keep us at her daycare. When I became toddler, she made us a hot breakfast every morning, consisted of bacon, eggs, grits, fruit, and toast. We have praise and worship every morning at the daycare along with Bible study. Sometimes we would have fun days, like a carnival day and once she even had the fire department come out and bring us presents. The year that I left Mrs. Pelzer's daycare she even had a …show more content…
graduation ceremony for me and the other children kindergarten. I didn't realize until later, but I found out Joy and I, went to the same day care at the same time and ended up at the same school at the same time.
In my first year of kindergarten at Faith Academy School of Excellence I learned my ABC's and 123's from my kindergarten teacher sister Nadia. From there it was first grade where I met my teacher sister Newman and some of my lifelong friends, Wendell Beasley, Julian Mitchell, Tyree Hood, Jaiden Henry, Anthony Deans, and Eric Collin, also known as the Newman boys. In third grade I had a hotel party with my friends and it was the first time that I had seen a snow blizzard. I don't remember much about third grade but in fourth grade I do remember having straight A's for one semester. When I turned 10 I had another hotel party. As parents came to pick up their kids, it was a snow storm. Another great thing that happened was it was my first time going to the science fair. There I got to experience what it's like to be in a science competition against other students. Thankfully I received the superior award in the life science competition.
On my eleventh birthday I got my first phone which was a TracFone. I was so excited because I've never had any phone before. I also got a pair of Beats that I had been waiting on for a long time. Later that day I also got $50 for my uncle. His name is Uncle Kurt. He is my favorite uncle because every time I get around him we always have a fun time. There was one time when we went to St. Louis that he took me to ride in the Arch for the first time. It was really fun because we got to take a train inside of the arch that went all around it. During that same year, I went to St. Louis for Christmas and got stuck in a snowstorm so we had to stay three days longer than we wanted to but it was still nice anyway.
The next year during the summer, my cousin came to stay with us for three months. His name is Tyreece. My mom surprised me when she picked up from the airport and brought him to our house. The day after, we went to Ocean Breeze and The Virginia Aquarium. In July we went to our church’s conference in Nashville, Tennessee. It was really interesting seeing all the historical buildings and to see the place where a Civil War battle was. We also went to see the Tennessee Titans stadium. I was sad when my cousin left but we had a fun time together.
When I was in fifth grade the school and I went to Baltimore, Maryland with my school. We visited the Baltimore Aquarium, where I discovered a love for sea creatures. I decided I wanted to become a marine biologist, but that dream would later change. We also visited the Blacks in Wax Museum, where I awakened a hatred for slavery. I say many famous activists like Malcolm X, and Dr. King as wax figures. There was one guy who pretended to be a wax figure but was actually a janitor at the museum. I was the funniest thing seeing how scared everybody was when he spoke.
In sixth grade, I met sunny really funny people like Chase Parker-Bennett and Shavon Coulter, who would have me weak every day.
They are the funniest people I know and still have me laughing today. Sometimes we would just look at each other and start laughing. That's how good our relationship was. Then the next year Chase left FASE. Class became boring in the beginning of the year. Then when we reflected on funny past moments things started to feel the same. That same year I became friends with two people I used to low-key bully. Their names are Cheyenne Combs, Chei-Ayn Mikell. They are like the sisters I wish I had. I also became best friends with who I used to think was an annoying little girl. Makayla moved to Japan and came back and irked me so much, but I didn't mind it after a
while.
In our eighth grade year, my classmates and I have the privilege to be the last class of Faith Academy. This school year has been really interesting. I wasn't shocked to hear that the school would be closing because I knew that half the population on the school was leaving this year. It's kind of sad knowing I won’t be able to have Faith Academy’s lunch anymore. It’s also sad to see the teachers lose their jobs, but I pray they find better jobs. When I leave FASE I plan to attend Granby High School, where I can excel my learning curriculum and go to college. Seeing that this is my last paper at Faith Academy, I want to thank you sister Hargrove for teaching me to be a phenomenal student and for pushing me to do more. I will, never forget the lesson you have taught me, which is “Be the 2 percent, not the 98 percent.”
