had died of starvation. I was unable to attend school for a few years because of his addiction, although I did manage to a catch up to all my peers once I returned to school after I escaped my father’s house to go reside with my mothers’ brothers at the age of 10. At the age of 15 both my mother and father’s mother passed away in the same day in the United States. Sadly, the same years I migrated to the US supposedly to come live with mother. In the US, I lived my grandmother with 4 of my siblings. I attended North Miami Senior high, which was the biggest cultural shock to me. Despite I was forced to repeat 9th grade because I did not have my report card, learning a completely new language, and adapt to my new environment, I graduated with honors (15% of my graduating class), and received a full tuition scholarship to FMU. At FMU, I was selected to partake in two different researches: one of the Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami Genetic department, and the other one at FMU where my co-worker and I created a novel drug that show promising outcome against microorganisms. Furthermore, I travelled around the US in scientific conferences, and presenting scientific papers.
One of the greatest important decision in my life was when I decided to join the Army.
Reasons joining the Army vary greatly amounts people. My reason is simply I wanted to say show gratitude to the US, and to protect its freedom due the fact that I do not want my daughter to have the same fate of Malala Yousafza on the afternoon of 9th October 2012. The latter was concluding factor in my decision. As for ROTC, being an officer will afford me to the greatest opportunities to make positive impact on others around me. I aforesaid all this to say that I would not change my childhood experience because I am proud of what I become today. Every negative event from childhood, I have internalized them, and turned into something positive because I made a promise to myself that I will not be anything that will prompt my future children to have a similar childhood as mine. In turn, I became mature at a young age, and more grateful everything I have earned or have in my life. I only desire to have a high prestige as an adult. In conclusion, I am because I have a desire to improve on what I was
yesterday.
