What made you decide to be part of the military? “I was drafted into the army, but I chose the Marines after the physical”…
My decision to join the military in general I believe subconsciously started when my older brother returned from Army basic training. While my brother was a pretty smart guy he had never really been to apply himself nor did he have the drive to, but whatever had happened to him during army basic training had made a change in him; a change for the best. He came back and the transformation was evident in every single one of his actions and thoughts. He had a drive to accomplish all of his goals dreams and aspiration, not only that he had the discipline necessary to stay on his new found path. I went on to college in the fall fallowing his return from basic training not sure if these new traits and strength I saw in him would continue or disappear. When I returned home that fall after my first semester and talked to him and I saw the changes had stayed with him and grown even further. With all that he had used the tools he had been given to accomplish so much in already so little of time. All that stayed in my head, but it did not become relevant to me until my sophomore year of college. I realized that while I was…
There are multiple reasons in which I enlisted myself into the United States Army. Some of the reasons are to improve who I am as a person mentally and physically, move away from the place that I grew up in, and last but not least be able to one day look back on my life and say that I did something. So in this essay I will get into further details on to why the three main points as in to which I choose for this essay.…
Furthermore, what initially interested me in the naval service was my family's involvement in the military. Ever since I was a child, I was inspired to become a military officer knowing my father was a non-commissioned officer in the Coast Guard and when my sister commissioned into the Navy as an officer becoming head of the physician and medical department on Naval bases. I was then driven to pursue a similar ambition to strive towards serving my country in the Navy as a lifelong career. My father works for the Air Force and growing up around planes; I generated interest for flight and the science behind it. I want to receive education from one of the top rated engineering institutions in the…

The Armed Forces is something my family is quite familiar with and has been an influential part of my life as a structure of leadership. My dad has told me a multitude of things he has experienced while in the Army and the opportunities given at hand when he was enlisted. I have also heard praises from many family members and family friends to the loved ones that have taken another step ahead by enrolling into college, and enhancing their leadership skills to become well renowned officers of the military. I will be taking this same road of success, but pushing it another level by applying for the NROTC, which will train my mind and body to guide others when I am commissioned into the Marine Corps.…
I would be remiss to try and convince Norwich than in the past I have been a model student. My academic record at the Virginia Military Institute wasn’t great, leaving to join the Army did not improve my academic concentration. While completing my Associates Degree with Fayetteville Technical Community College I improved. Learning to balance heavy professional workloads and an academic load was not easy for me and I often bit off more than I could chew but I progressed. Refining my time management to include academic studies was a slow fight but my time during the Warrant Officer course induced the right amount of motivation to get right with my study habits and goal of furthering my education.…

I joined the U.S Army in 2006 as a 92F (petroleum supply specialist) at the age of 18. I went on to be deployed 2 times to Iraq. While in Iraq, I got cross trained and had a new MOS or job title. After the training, I was put into a security detachment. I got out of the military October 2010. One thing I look back on and think about that I should have taken a risk on and tried was going SF (Special Forces). Many of my friends in my unit tried out for SF while I was in. Some failed and some passed and went on to have good careers in SF.…
The reason I joined the Marines is to serve my nation, follow in my father’s footsteps and to help alleviate some college debt. That is the biggest motivator for me to do what I do. College has always been a goal and aspiration of mine ever since I could remember. With the career choice I have decided for myself a degree is required in order to do it. I would literally be wasting my time in the marines if I do not work on my degree at all. Earning my degree is important to me and I like having something to show all my hard work. Joining the marines had always been a goal of mine along with getting my degree. The Marines offer different ways to obtain college credit, with the opportunity to go to college as well. They have bills and tuition assistance to pay for those who…
