My Theme Song
9. My Theme Song A theme song that I chose for myself was Some Things Never Change by Foesum. Whenever I play this song I usually feel two emotions: joy and sadness. The sadness comes from not being able to see friends from high school as much as I was used to. The joy comes from knowing although we do not see each other as much we will always be there for each other. This song was a part of my life growing up in high school, all my friends listened to the same genre of music called G-Funk. Whenever this song comes up on my music player I remember the good times I had with my friends. The lyrics in the chorus go: Some things never change, ain't it strange? How things just remain the same. The meaning behind this chorus is that no matter where life takes you, there are some things about that will never change about yourself. My favorite verse comes in the beginning and it was by MNMsta and it goes:
Now I never knew life would get this hectic/
I find myself caught up, more than I expected/
But I still take time out to make my rounds/
And kick it with the homies to show I'm still down/
'cause I never forget where I been and what we went through/
To go to this point of this game that we're into/

Although I get caught up in work, school and other daily obstacles, when it comes to hanging out with my close friends; I can always call them and spend time with them. Even though it is not like old times, I can still show them that I am still capable of spending time with them.

My father worked in the United States Marine core during my adolescent years, and because of it we were constantly moving around. I believe it made me more of an adaptable person, however once I met whom I considered my best friend moving around was not so fun anymore. I’ve always been more of a quiet person so meeting friends was not easy for me, and the few I had were as close to me as family. Moving to Philadelphia from Virginia was very traumatic for me at that age. My parents told me that I would have many meaningful people come in and out of my life as time went on, but at the time I figured I would never find another friend like the one I had. After months of being in a very depressive state I became very close friends with our neighbor’s daughter whom is still one of my closest…

    Mi Gente Song Analysis

One of the songs I chose is named “Mi Gente”, which is an Urban Latin/pop song which is frequently played at South-American parties (From personal experience). Mi Gente is an upbeat song which happens to be in the top 20 songs in Canada. I feel this song relates to me on a personal level in multiple ways. For instance, listening to the song with no meaning other than to enjoy the song, it would probably sound pleasant or delightful. Though if you examine the lyrics thoroughly, you will uncover the deeper meaning (one example being “From corner to corner, but I have it in my hand”). This song exemplifies me because maybe the first couple times you meet me, I might seem calm or ordinary, but if you really…

My theme song is "Getting Better" by The Beatles. The Beatles were an English rock band formed in 1960. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, members of The Beatles, became widely regarded as the foremost and most influential act of the rock era. Rooted in skiffle, beat and 1950s rock and roll, the Beatles later experimented with several musical styles, ranging from pop ballads and Indian music to psychedelia and hard rock, often incorporating classical elements and unconventional recording techniques in innovative ways. In 1963 their popularity first emerged as "Beatlemania", and as the group's music grew in sophistication in subsequent years, led by primary songwriters Lennon and McCartney,…

For my song I picked Garth Brooks “The River.” I consider this song to be very meaningful. This song is about chasing your dreams and never giving up on what you believe in, reminding us that life is shorter than we think and if we just stand on the shore watching the river go by, then life will be gone before we know it. Garth Brooks uses a lot of psychological concepts in this song, such as, Attitude, Affect, Motivation, Optimism, and Behavior. Garth Brooks says, “A dream is like a river.” A dream changes, just like a river changes. As life changes, the river can be calm then strong then calm again, so our path in life change. Garth Brooks says that “He will sail his vessel until the river runs dry.” To me this mean no matter what life throws…

Music is a key factor in my life, now and has been for as long as I remember. Music is one thing that can control my mood and emotions unlike any other. The sounds and melodies of the composition have the potential to sway my moods from a dark gloomy state all the way to a joyous and soothing harmonic atmosphere. Music allows me to control how and what I want to be, or represent. Music is almost like picking out a favorite outfit. When one picks out an outfit to wear they most likely pick an outfit that expresses them and how they are feeling at that direct moment. They have the ability to change shoes, accessories, or their hairstyle to make it appealing to their particular desires, just as one has the will to change a song on their ipod, or flip the channel on a local radio station. Recently, my life has been undergoing many changes. I am now starting to apply myself in a way that allows me to develop my potential and show forth the results as an outcome of the pursuance of fulfilling my aspirations. More than ever now I am starting to realize that “you get out of life what you put in”. Life is dependent only on “what you bring to the table”. If one tends to put in minimal effort then one should not expect to experience a great aftermath. I have chosen three songs that apply to my life right now in the stance that I am currently in. Its ironic that all of these songs are from different genres, songwriters, and generations but, they somehow tie into my life perfectly. The main theme of the “soundtrack of my life” is “overcoming obstacles and changing that are essential to the growth and the perseverance of an individual”.…

It all began freshman year of 2007, and the annual high school talent show was coming up. Poor little T Swift had no idea what to do, so she decided she’d write a cute little song about her relationship at the time, and then the pop country hit “Our Song” came to be. Taylor Swift had no intentions of this make shift song becoming anything special rather then something up beat and relatable to her fellow classmates, but then the exact opposite happened. When producing her album. Taylor insisted “Our Song” to be included in it while the producers thought different, when asked why, Taylor stated,” It has a certain magic in it, like its bouncing.” Her new song topped all the charts, going platinum in Canada and triple platinum in the US, the song was an unpredicted hit.…

While I understand the importance of maintaining a good social support network, I think that this is the hardest part for me. Keeping in touch with people when I don't see them at work every day makes it kind of difficult, and when we move from one side of the world to another, it almost becomes impossible! Although it has become easier to simply message old friends on Facebook every now and then, I feel like it's not the same as being able to have them over for dinner one night, or meet them for coffee outside working…

For my character theme song, I chose the song dying inside by Gary Barlow. It’s a song about hurting yourself by hiding your feelings from the people around you. That’s why I chose it to represent Dally. Speaking of choosing, this song also represents the theme of choice. I think that because, in the song Gary Barlow made a poor decision that really hurt him inside. Dally did the same thing. They hid their feelings and let them build up inside. That’s what lead to Dally getting the police to shout him. If his friends had noticed he was hurting and helped him get through it, there's a real possibility he wouldn't be dead.…
