My Wage By Jessie B Rittenhouse Analysis

The poet Jessie B Rittenhouse belonged to a very prosperous and wealthy farm family at the early stages of her life. Until she faced financial misfortune in the early stages of adulthood. Around this time she began to write “My Wage” along with a series of other poems in a book called The Door Of Dreams published in 1918. World War One was coming to a end and The Great Depression for farmers was afoot. The heavy inflation of housing, food, and clothing cost at the end of World War One had a bad effect on workers.
Making it nearly impossible for any farmer to thrive (The Farming Problem). Also due to farmers believing that the soldiers would be hungry and have huge family feast. They began producing large amounts of crops straight away.
