The American Revolution began in 1775 as open conflict between the united thirteen colonies and Great Britain. By the Treaty of Paris that ended the war in 1783, the colonies had won their independence. While no one event can be pointed to as the actual cause of the revolution, the war began as a disagreement over the way in which Great Britain treated the colonies versus the way the colonies felt they should be treated. Americans felt they deserved all the rights of Englishmen. The British, on the other hand, felt that the colonies were created to be used in the way that best suited the crown and parliament. This conflict is embodied in one of the rallying cries of the American Revolution: No Taxation Without Representation.…

14 dead, 21 wounded in San Bernardino. 9 dead in Charleston, S.C. 12 killed, 3 injured in Washington, D.C. 27 killed, one injured at Sandy Hook Elementary. These are just a few examples of tragic mass shootings that have plagued the United States in recent years. But Why? Is it because the gun Laws in this country are too lax? And Guns are just too accessible? I say No, there is greater issue at hand than America’s gun laws thus, any amount gun control legislation will not stop the gun violence and we must vote against it. Too often gun control proposed as thee solution to stop all the tragic mass shootings. I disagree, infringing on the right of Americans to bear arms is not the answer, Keeping guns out of good law abiding people is not going to stop all the violence, I believe that just the opposite is true. Some may object saying, “America has more guns per capita and more gun violence than other nation, so if we decrease the number of arm citizens would also decrease the number of deaths caused by gun violence and make our country safer.” However this objections and others just like it are just not necessarily true.…
In today’s society, most people communicate using of cell phones. Just 15 to 20 years ago, cell phones were a rarity for the average person. The average income person could not afford a cell phone. Today, cell phones are affordable and the majority of people own them. The days of waiting until you are home to use a telephone or searching for a pay phone if you are out are long gone. In fact, pay phones are being removed, which increases the need for a cell phone. The government will provide a cell phone with limited monthly service for those that are low income and meet certain criteria. The cell phone has also created people to feel the need to be accessible to constant communication. The major problem lies with cell phone use while driving, which presents a constant danger on the road. In many instances, it is a deadly danger.…
One would think that purchasing your first home would be a very fascinating experience; after all it is one of the most major purchases of your entire life. In America, home ownership ties in with the American Dream and the spirit of working hard to one day earn through hard work a home with a white picket fence. My husband and I felt that it was time for us to reward ourselves for all the hard work we have been putting in over the years by purchasing our first home, which was well overdue. I quickly learned the process of purchasing your first home can be very frustrating and stressful. However, if you survive the home buying process the reward is priceless once you move into your “American Dream.”…
I am an average 16 year who just can’t wait to grow up and face the real world and not have to worry about any rules or restrictions. On January 12th, 1996, my parents named me Asmaa, so I have to stick with that name for the rest of my life. Personally, I like the name because it’s the name of a very great person; more of a hero in Islam. Names in my family go with a pattern; but this only goes for girls. The pattern is the double ‘A’ at the end of the name. Shaymaa is the leader of the tribe yet she doesn’t control any of us. Next in line are me and my twin sister Alyaa. We are the decision makers in the household, everyone takes our opinion before doing anything or taking any steps .I would like to mention that I am the older twin; but that doesn’t really help me in anyway because she is treated as the ‘wiser one’. I am known as the smiley easy going twin and Alyaa is known as the serious harsher twin. There are 5 years between Omar and me, which makes me the mature older sister that he could come to for advice. Esraa is the little seven year old diva of the house. She likes to imitate models and celebrities and act like she rules the planet. The sixth child is five year old Tarek who just entered grade one this September. He believes that the world can’t survive without superheroes. Last but certainly not least is my life and my smile, the little flower of the house; Alaa. She is a year and 3 months old. In my mind; she completes the package very well. We kids call ourselves The Power of Seven. We’re 5 girls against 2 guys. Fortunately for us girls, we gang up against the guys and we always get what we want. The girls rule the house because they know how to fight for what they want, they know how to put up a good argument, and plus they’re the majority. Speaking of majority, I am two years away from being an official adult and getting the right to vote; a year and 4 months and day to be exact. I really want…
Everyone in the world has a journey to find their passion. Whether it be short, long, thought-out or impulsive, people may find out what career field they'd like to join. Once one discovers their passion and what career path to follow, they are then made to pursue a degree that will help them excel. For some it took only moments to decide their fate; it takes some only a simple decision towards what path they want to take. It took me years of researching, exploring and see-sawing between numerous careers and different degrees to pursue. There were a few things I knew from the beginning along with a few things I picked up along the way that I wanted to do. I've always known I've wanted a degree from the beginning, but I started wanting a degree thinking it'd make me more money than average; I've learned since then it's almost the only way to get a decent job in this day and age. Now that I'm older, I finally decided my future as far as the degree I want and what I'd like to do with it. I've also decided how and where I'm going to obtain my degree. There are so many ways to go to college and get a degree; I could have gone to an online school, a 4 year university, a community college or even a mixture of all. With all the different choices in the world, it's a hard decision to make.…

This is the time I went to Las Vegas, Nevada. It was my first time going to Las Vegas and I was about 5 years old and my little sister was only one. When I went to Las Vegas, there were 16 of us going so we took 3 cars all in all. The ride there was only one of the best parts of the trip. We were watching movies and playing video games in the back seats of the car. But when we went there, that’s when we got really excited.…
English composition has always been a difficult subject for me. Even back in High School I struggled with writing papers and understanding the writing process. However, English 106 has been a great experience for me. In this class I was able to understand the many steps in the writing process, improve my writing skills, and utilizing the feedback I received from my professor.…

My family and I spent the first two days of our vacation just relaxing and having a good time. After a while, I was ready to break away from the family and try to meet some people my own age. Later that evening my family and I went to a beach party the Atlantis was holding for guests. Little did I know how this night would change my life.…
It was a wonderful morning with great weather and we all were ready for the picnic at Victoria Resort, near Lake Michigan in South Haven, MI. I was very excited that day than anyone else because Esha, my fiancée was also coming with me. Finally our picnic bus arrived to take us to our destination. The bus trip to the picnic was one of the most enjoying moments which I had with my Esha and all family members, we were singing songs, dancing, playing cards, eating snacks and much more. I remember those places and different objects passing by us during our trip, such as rivers, Lakes, Jungles, Flowers, big sign boards and many more. After 2 hours of drive we finally reached our Picnic spot.…
Have you ever asked yourself if you could ever choose, which place in this world do you want to be at most? I have. The warmest memories, and the peacefully joys I experience when I am there will always have a special place in my heart. From time to time the richness of culture, the variety of food, and the most beautiful traditions have been specified signatures itself, and yet have never fallen behind in the new century. This place is called: “Laos” also known, as a Lao PDR has always been the most inimitable place rooted in my heart.…
