It started off softer but got louder as Natalie listened. Boom, boom, boom! At first Natalie was convinced it was Luke, just coming down to get a drink of water, but it was too loud to be Luke. She sprinted for the stairs gracefully leaping over the obstacles. All of the old paintings, furniture and junk was no match for Natalie. She was half way through now, nearing the stairs when her foot scraped against a folding chair and she fell cutting her knee on the garbage. Boom! Boom! Boom! It was louder and she knew it was almost here, to the basement door. She scrambled to her feet and shot to the staircase. Dodging all of the obstacles in the way this time. She was on the first step. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! She hopped up a couple of stairs before being stopped by the wall where the stairs changed directions, but she didn’t move, just listened for the footsteps. There were none! She stared at the wall, its paint peeling off and rotting (like the bodies in the closet). As she dove towards it, she felt the wind on her face, everything was slow. She was flying towards the door, I can make it, she repeated. He stared at her, grinning, what did best it seemed.
