Natalie Alternate Ending
“Goodnight,” she finally insisted and left the terrified kid, alone. All alone. Natalie lay downstairs for a long time, her mind contemplating whether she would examine the unknown room or not. You have to go, what if it’s something bad? It can’t be something bad, what’s the worst thing it could be? You have to! You can’t! I have to! She stood up and paced towards the door, accidenty stepping in the Etch A Sketch on the way. Oops, she thought, but continued on her way. She felt the doorknob. It was cold, freezing cold as if it hadn’t been used in days. Her hand tightened and now she couldn’t stop, she had taken the bait and was being taken in. She turned the doorknob slowly and pulled lightly, not to wake up Luke. It was pitch black. Total …show more content…
It started off softer but got louder as Natalie listened. Boom, boom, boom! At first Natalie was convinced it was Luke, just coming down to get a drink of water, but it was too loud to be Luke. She sprinted for the stairs gracefully leaping over the obstacles. All of the old paintings, furniture and junk was no match for Natalie. She was half way through now, nearing the stairs when her foot scraped against a folding chair and she fell cutting her knee on the garbage. Boom! Boom! Boom! It was louder and she knew it was almost here, to the basement door. She scrambled to her feet and shot to the staircase. Dodging all of the obstacles in the way this time. She was on the first step. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! She hopped up a couple of stairs before being stopped by the wall where the stairs changed directions, but she didn’t move, just listened for the footsteps. There were none! She stared at the wall, its paint peeling off and rotting (like the bodies in the closet). Natalie envisioned Benedict there, waiting at the top step with that terrible grin, like a black hole sucking in all of the happiness surrounding it. She turned her head slowly, although she knew how this would end already. He was there, staring at her with the same snicker she had seen before, the one that meant he …show more content…
As she dove towards it, she felt the wind on her face, everything was slow. She was flying towards the door, I can make it, she repeated. He stared at her, grinning, what did best it seemed. She was just one of the many people that have been fooled. One of the many people who had done exactly what Benedict had wanted. Natalie’s fingers scraped against the door, but by then it was too late. BANG! The door shut and Benedict had won as he had with many others. Click! The lock sounded, the sound of Natalie’s most certain death; a sudden realization of what had happened and what had not. (Curiosity killed the cat.) Yes, it had, and now Natalie was going to starve and rot down here just like the rest. Benedict would come back in a month, by then, when she was certainly dead, and place her in the closet and do whatever he does with all of the rest. Natalie assumed he would do it plainly for amusement - he was psychotic after all, the way others watch movies or play with their friends. A homicidal maniac who is out to get innocent teenagers. Yes, yes indeed. She listened to the heavy footsteps as Benedict marched up the stairs to the second
