A leader is a person able to channel the attention of its followers and lead them to support common ideas. Nursing is a science that collaborates with other sciences. It is through leadership that nurses try to adjust group goals of nursing, aiming for improvement in professional practice, especially the outlook of proper nursing care. Many different perspectives of leadership are developed through a nurse’s career, including self-directed, a voice that defends the practice of nursing, an empowered workplace, and innovation that increases quality of care. This approach and culture creates a high retention environment which draws potential leaders to the profession and workplace (Ferguson-Pare, 2011, pp. 394). Nurses are leaders that stimulate critical thinking to motivate others through empowerment. The vision for a new tomorrow in nursing practice includes leadership thinking on advancement practices. Leaders visualize their views of the future, or else leadership do not take place. The ability to influence others is an advantage for all leaders. In fact, influencing followers to move in a positive direction is an essential element of leadership. A leader in nursing uses a voice to support the profession and practice of nursing. If we look at the life of the great leaders of the Bible, where people who managed others to follow and imitate their behavior. Innovation is another important approach nurses have advanced to. Nurses are challenged to think differently while testing out new research. Innovations allow nurses to deliver services to patients while increasing quality care. Nurses who find the courage to innovate usually finds other co-workers who express admiration. It is important to find the strength to overcome barriers that challenge a leader, but in doing so, a leader can move forward
