Observational learning, or social learning is one of the most important theories proposed by Albert Bandura. He has proofed this theory with the Bobo doll experiment --- a classical experiment in the history of psychology. In this experiment, the children who have watched the adults was attacking the Bobo doll also show aggressive behavior toward the doll.

He always encourages me to work with him during the summer vacation. Universities in China normally hold a 2-month summer vacation. During the summer vacation, students do not have any classes, and the teachers can also take a rest, or focusing on academic research. I had a lot of opportunity to “participate” in my father’s projects. Sometimes, I can use a screwdriver to assembly partial of a machine by myself.
Observation: My father encourages me to try different tools and to figure out how to use them by myself. There was not a lot of guidance besides some necessary safety tips. This is one of my father’s parenting methods I observed.
Reward stimulus and motivation: I believe this experience is important because I have no difficulties to use different tools to do some minor repair at home by myself now. This makes me feel great emotionally. It is also saved a lot of money (compare to find a mechanism to fix the minor problems.)
Retention and reproduction: This parenting method has been keeping in my memory for 20 years. 20 years later, I recall the memory, and encourage my children to play with the tools and try to repair the toys by themselves. I just sit beside them and protect them from any
