“The Marina and Country Club”

5.2 History

The Subic Bay Yacht Club was built in the year 1998, owned by Mr. Victor Villa Vicencio. The club is worth two billion pesos, and the membership fee is one million six hundred thousand pesos (1.6 Million Pesos). Built with the cooperation of Filipino talent and famous international consultants, this facility actually has a beach around the huge swimming pool that has imported sand from Australia. While the main clubhouse is huge, sporting over 17,000 square meters of floor space, the number of guest club rooms is modest at only thirty nine. But these rooms are equipped with all the top-level amenities such as a Jacuzzi, mini-bar and such. There is a two story presidential suite at this club that has its own living, dining and receiving areas complete with a spiral staircase. Several nice function rooms are available and there is even a movie theater in the main clubhouse. There are three restaurants in this club namely Cambusa (Italian restaurant), Jacques (French Restaurant), Caracoa (Oriental restaurant) but now Jacques and Caracoa are reserved for private gatherings; and it also has a delicatessen (Providores). There are so many issues with celebrities being tried for their crimes. First of all, they can hire anyone who witnessed anything to be silenced or to say something in favor of them. Also, any expert on the case could be paid to alter the trial. So, cases concerning rape, murder, burglary, and such, committed by celebrities become a big deal. That’s mainly because they have so much money and can find their way out of it. Which is what my book is about. It is about showing the public that the criminal, O.J. Simpson, who is really guilty, walks a free man, but it’s certain that he committed the crime he was charged with and found not guilty to. It was written by four authors. Pablo F. Fenjves, Dominick Dunne, Peter Haven, and O.J. Simpson. There…

The widely known leader I have chosen to present in my report is the American religious cult leader, responsible for the Jonestown massacre in 1978; Jim Jones. Born as James Warren Jones on May 13, 1931, he was an extremely influential leader of his cult church, The People’s Temple. His influence over this group led to a series of quite horrific events and eventually a mass suicide which Jones called “revolutionary suicide", killing more than 900 people, including him.…

The main structure of the present club-house was constructed and new freshwater pools were built in the early ’70s, supposedly so that the resort could be rented out as a casino. The declaration of Martial Law in 1972 put an end to these plans and since the family was more occupied with real estate developments than with managing a resort, the newly constructed club-house and resort facilities were rented out for several years.…
