As most people spend a major part of their adult life at work, job satisfaction is an important element of individual wellbeing.
Having a job is not merely seen as a condition that is needed by human to give them access in earning money. As time goes by, its position in someone’s life has brought it in a new phase to show someone’s self esteem. This situation makes the level of satisfaction becomes a very important thing to achieve.
There are some factors that can contribute job satisfaction. The first is the society appreciation. There are many jobs existed in the society which are seen as ‘prestigious’ compared to others though these jobs does not give them a big number of money. In some developing countries for example, being a teacher is not really promising if it is seen from financial sides. Nevertheless, by being a teacher, someone will get high honor in the society. It might be caused by the social values belongs to certain developing countries.
Another factor that gives contribution is the fulfillment of someone’s passion with the job. When someone is able to have a job that is in line with the passion, it will give a very positive feedback as well. Its result will be optimal as there is enjoyment in doing the job. It may give further positive effect such as the developing position time to time. It makes sense for them to gain a promotion due to their consistency in career.
Having high expectation on job satisfaction is realistic for some workers, especially workers who are willingly to put their best effort in being maximal in their job. Different condition will occur to some workers who just work for earning money to continue living. These groups of people just count the days before getting paycheck. There is not enough spirit owned by them to move to a better position in their career
