Apron:
Front part of the carriage assembly in which the carriage handwheel is mounted.
Carriage: The carriage consisting of three main parts, the saddle, cross-slide, and apron, is used to move the cutting tool along the lathe bed. The saddle, an H-shaped casting mounted on the top of the lathe ways, provides a means of mounting the cross-slide and apron.
