Patient Care Technician
UAP-unlicensed assistive personnel- PCT- Patient Care Technician. To become a PCT the individual need to obtain an accredited certificate such as CPR certificate, phlebotomy, or CNA certification- Certified nurse’s aide- in which can be obtained at technical schools or community colleges. A CNA can perform some of the same tasks as a PCT; however, a PCT can do more advanced procedures such as blood draws, ECGs, and catheterizations. Sometimes medical facilities provide training that have a duration of 2-3 months that combines a clinical experience and classroom instruction. The patient care technician provides care under the supervision of a RN- Registered nurse- or LPN- Licensed Practical Nurse-. Their function is to advocate patients need
