A: Good Morning Sir
B: Good Morning, I recently heard the speech made by Patrick Henry, have you heard of his glorious propositions?
A: Sir, I would hardly call his outrageous ideas to go to war with our Motherland glorious. Why fight in a war, when instead we could simply separate, as …show more content…
Thomas Jefferson has said?
B: You hold the same “illusions of hope” that Henry talked about. Although all men desire to buy into these illusions, you must not, for there is an inevitable war in the near future. Is now not the time to act, if so then when? When do you consider it the time to have freedom rather than slavery?
A: You call these ideas for peace “illusions of hope”, but instead you hold these illusions that if we go to war, we will come out with more freedom than before. Have you not seen the British take control of the New World? They have the strongest navy in the world. What is the use of fighting a war where people will die? We will ultimately lose because of our weaknesses. It would be similar to a mouse attempting to fight a lion, in the end the fate of the mouse is the same.
B: Did you not hear the words “Give me Liberty or Give me Death,”this should be our anthem, for living as a slave is the same as not living at all.
For all that England has done to us, we are not mere puppets in the hands of Britain. For when do you think the battle will start. Do you not believe the Declaration of Independence will cause a war in itself? In reality, the war has already started, what else would you call the shackles that have been placed upon?
A: Aye, Sir, that is where you are wrong, although Britain has sinned against us, and King George III is a tyrant, simply declaring our freedom is the solution. If we go to war, it will be a short war in which we will die, and a dead man can not fight for his so called “freedom”. You would rather die than live this life which we are our own nation, then you hold the wrong beliefs.
B: There is one idea that you are correct about, and it is that Britain has done wrong against us for ten years. When does it become too much for us to handle? When do we become another territory that does the work the King wishes upon no “fine englishman”? When will this happen? Now. Now is the time to fight. Now is the time for us to join together as one nation and fight our oppressors. Many of us left England due to oppression, and they brought it to us in another country. I beseech you Sir, consider my words, let them empower you to join the true fight for
freedom.
