Who knew that a war between red and blue coats could, and would, change the future of the new land called America? American exceptionalism is the thought that America is better than all other countries. The literary movement, American exceptionalism, really helped change American literature in many aspects. It took place in the time period of the Revolutionary War. The colonies in America were ran by the ruler of Great Britain, King George III. Colonists were not happy with his senseless rules. They realized it was time to fight back at the British. This started the Revolutionary War, where many brave people emerged and America started to become its own country. Great Britain has hurt us over and over for years. It is time to fight back and get what we want! Let’s stop letting people tell us what to do. Remember what he has done to our lives back in Britain and now in the new land. Our Declaration of Independence states, “He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the Lives of our People”(Jefferson). King George III has injured us emotionally and physically. We know that we want liberty and freedom, so let’s go get it. Patrick Henry in the “Speech in the Virginia Convention” commented, “I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death”(Henry)! People in this country would rather die than be under Britain rule any more. We have a plan to star our own country strong. In the Preamble of the Constitution it states, “in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America”(Morris). We have a plan and a reason not to stay with Britain. It is time for us to stand up what we believe in,
