Ethos And What It Means To Be Controled By Great Britain
Ethos We don't want or need to be controlled by Great Britain we've come a far way from Britain trying to escape them and all their rules and religious believes. When all we want is peace and liberty! But Great Britain believes that we are weak and taking advantage of that. we need to let Great Britain know that we are not going to sedate to their control and we also need to show them that we are not weak! The British are fooled by the idea that we are weak because we are barely starting our colonies . also need to show them where not weak by making proper use out of our weapons. "Patrick Henry said in his speech “sir we are not weak if we make proper use of those means which the God of nature hath placed in our power,” Patrick Henry says to use what we got so that Great Britain. Doesn't take advantage of us. Making an effort to protect our colonies is key. It might seem as if we're weak but we're not weak we're strong and ready to fight for peace.

The first reason I think that we should change our relationship with Britain is because of taxation without representation. U.S. colonists are getting taxed on tea, paper, glass, lead, and tea without any representatives in Parliament. Parliament made lots of people poor because of taxes on everyday items, which, in turn, caused the colonists to…

They protect us from those who want to kill us. The French, the Indians, they all are upset we stole their land, and the only object stopping them from waging war against us immediately is Britain. A: Aye, Sir, that is where you are wrong, although Britain has sinned against us, and King George III is a tyrant, simply declaring our freedom is the solution. If we go to war, it will be a short war in which we will die, and a dead man can not fight for his so called “freedom”. You would rather die than live this life which we are our own nation, then you hold the wrong beliefs.…

In the American Revolutionary War, Britain relied on their well-equipped, well trained, and disciplined military might to force about colonial compliance. However, despite even their superior forces, relative to the Continental Army, Britain’s perceived social attitudes of the colonies weakened their ability to properly assess the engagement with the Colonies. Instead, the British Admirals, Generals, and nobility fought a war they were familiar but most importantly comfortable with. Britain sought to end a perceived troublesome situation in a quick manner using military minds and subsequently failed to address the underlying calls for independence. Britain’s inability to quell support for independence, deprive the colonies from allied support, and failure to destroy the Continental Army negated Britain’s early victories…

Great Britain has hurt us over and over for years. It is time to fight back and get what we want! Let’s stop letting people tell us what to do. Henry presents solid facts to justify his call for action throughout his speech. Henry tells his fellow delegates that Britain is ready for war and their men are already in the field, and that is why Americans cannot sit back and call for peace when there is no peace.[2] While America is in support of love and reconciliation, Britain, on the other hand, has brought fleets and armies on the American soil to suppress its colonies, as opposed to promoting piece. Therefore, it is justified for America to fight against Britain in order to be free from slavery.…

The British people are referred to as “our British brethren.” The colonists and the British share a “common kindred”. Their unselfishness is seen through the word magnanimity. But they are like their king, “have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity.” The British people must be seen, as the rest of the world is seen, as “enemies in…

Many say that Britain is the parent country to the colonies. This was true at one point. She took us under her wing and got us started. But "even brutes do not devour their young, nor savages make war upon their families." She has turned on us. The king "has refused to pass other laws for the accommodation of large districts of people." He over-taxes us. Why should we put up with this? Why should a miniscule island have complete rule over and entire continent with such great potential? In Britain, the king is law. In America, "THE LAW IS KING!" Let's fight for our rightful independence and freedom!…

In the face of evil a country can not just run away and hide while they watch the evil take over. It is crucial to stand up for your values and freedoms which everyone deserves. War in defense of the values of freedom is justified. On the 40th anniversary of D-day, President Ronald Reagan addressed this saying, “It is better to be here ready to protect the peace than to take blind shelter across the sea...rushing to respond only when freedom is lost.” (2) It is human nature to run away and deny something rather than face the reality that something bad is happening. However in order to keep liberty one must gather the courage to confront the problem. Reagan talked about protecting the peace. This is ironic because war is everything but peace. To get to the peace and liberty war often must be endured. Patrick Henry, an American revolutionary in the fight for independence from Britain made a call for action saying, “give me liberty or give me death.” (2) He also called liberty a holy cause. The value that Henry places on liberty mirrors that of most people. Liberty is worth death for it is not worth living a life that is constantly restrained by government. The liberty that war can bring to society is worth the sacrifice that war demands. By calling liberty a holy cause he shows how all people were created equal people under God and deserve the liberty they fight so hard to attain.…
