Personal Narrative: Football After Recovery
I made my own decision that I would continue to play football, after I got done with recovery. Probably asking in your mind,”Well why do you have to go to rehab?’’ Good question, It was my first game back from my first mishap, where I dislocated my shoulder. I had been playing a little that night, but not a whole lot because it was my first game back and I didn't know much about the position I was playing. It was kickoff, and I was on the very end of the field, in my position ready to make the tackle, bound and determined i was gonna make it. I made the tackle, but it didn't go the way i had planned it to go. Instead of making the tackle and standing up and cheering with the team, I made the tackle and laid on the ground in so much pain i thought …show more content…
Do I get frustrated at myself because I can't do as much ? “Yes, yes i do.” I tell myself in my head, “Isaac you've come to far, there's no going back now.”I read a quote in a book one time and it said “work hard in silence, and let success make the noise.” I will never forget it, every day I just think of what everybody has done for me to get me healthy again, I will not stop until my mom and dad are driving foreign cars!
Furthermore, I'm close to my destiny, close to being done with physical therapy, close to being able to play sports again! If you haven’t found out by now, sports are my life, and always will be till the day i die. I’d have to say making my own choice to stick with football, and play again, has truly made me the guy i used to be. When this happened, I was down and out all the time, but knowing I will get to play football again, has made me want to get better and changed my attitude toward things.
Finally, I can smell the mud on the field, and the dirt sticking to my cleats again. I’m back, Bigger, stronger and better than ever. I truly realize that hard work takes a lot of dedication and making your own decisions can change your life forever by my experience. I will work harder and strive for greatness, because quitting is not in my blood. This is what i think about making your own choices, “What do you think about

Hopefully one day I can get back on track and be on the field again, it's nothing like being on a football field at night playing for hundreds of fans cheering your name depending on you to win. It's just a good atmosphere to be in . But I've found other ways to be involved in football and to continue my career and make the same amount of money as the players but instead I want to be a player I'll be on the sidelines or anything in that area such as: athletic scout, athletic trainer, broadcast engineer, statistician.…

It all started at ninth street with some friends of mine John and I started recruiting some people to come play football with us. I honestly didn’t know I had a pretty decent arm. I originally was going to start practicing to play wide receiver instead of quarterback. At the time Odell Beckham Jr. ( wide receiver for the New York Giants ) was extremely explosive and dynamic on offense. Seeing him blow up on offense made me want to try out for wide receiver. But somehow John convinced me to play quarterback.…

Station Camp was five yards from the end zone when our defense flattened the running back, sending the football to the hands of the tackler. Our defense scored on that play to win the game 26-20 in overtime. The tumultuous crowd became so loud, we couldn't hear each other on the field; but truthfully, we did not need to speak. Who we were spoke so loudly that we did not need to hear each other. Numerous predictions claimed we should have lost that game alongside our already fearful fans. After losing nineteen talented starters in the class above us, an immense void was left to fill by few seniors. So why did we keep playing? The answer is that the visceral integrity ingrained within us would never allow us cease believing in ourselves and let adversity control the outcome of the game.…

Junior year was here and I hadn’t played in a single game. While at soccer practice, yes I still attended even though I was on crutches and couldn’t play, my mom called me to tell me the results of it my injury. No one had thought it was my Anterior Cruciate Ligament, but it was. It had been completely torn in half and I needed surgery for it to be repaired. He had already put in my name and date for the surgery and everything. I felt like I was paralyzed from the head down. I couldn’t help but feel so torn up about not being able to play the whole season. I decided after the surgery I would try my hardest to recover and build my self better than what I was. I went to physical therapy every day I needed to and finished…

“Cameron, you can’t play football you’ll die,” My mother told me in her usual serious tone, I could always count on my mom to keep it 100% reality even though I hated it. But then, one varsity football game on a Friday night I have been hit in the leg with my opponent’s helmet. I tried to walk it off, but the pain was overwhelming and the coaches had to take me out of the game. A few days after the game, the pain had still not gone away so my parents decided to get my leg checked out at the hospital. After a quick X-ray it was clear to the doctors that I had two small fractures in my leg, they went on to tell me that I could not play football for a couple of weeks, meaning I would not be able to play some of the last football games of my senior year. So under all this stress, pain and the amount of time football took out of my day, I was close to just giving up on my grades and to just start to feel sorry for myself, but I decided to keep on working and never giving up, because I always believed that “Success isn’t always about greatness, it’s about consistency…” -The Rock. These words have been a part of the few of which I follow with all my heart through this crazy game of…

It was a Friday night in mid August 1991. I was a noseguard and middle linebacker on defense, depending on the play. I also played right guard on the offensive line. This is the story of a night that could of well ended any hope of being an athlete, on any level, from this point on. I will be telling the story from the defensive side of the ball, due to that is where I was playing when I had five vertebrae, slightly, separated.…

I have learned to think about others first, and realized how important working hard is.
