Personal Narrative: My Coat Of Arms
My Coat of Arms
For my creative task I chose to create my own coat of arms. In my coat of arms I included an Australian background with red sand, a dead tree and Uluru. I also included an ocean down the bottom of my coat of arms and the Polish and Slovenian flags. I used an Australian outback background so when people look upon my shield they will recognise Uluru and know I am Australian. Also, the extra touch of the sun coming over Uluru and the clear blue sky symbolizes how I remember seeing it when I travelled around Australia last year. The two flags symbolizes my two grandparents because my grandma migrated from Poland and my Grandpa migrated from Slovenia and, although I am not sure, I think that my last name “SIMENKO”, which I included

The Coat of Arms created for El Patróns Empire, Opium, is based off of literal and metaphorical ideas. For example the entire reason for his empire was his anger that all seven of his siblings died. He believed he deserved the lives they did not get. Also Opium would be nothing without Poppies so to support my shield I used Poppy Flowers. Notice that there are seven flowers supporting the shield, each of the flowers represents a sibling he lost. The smallest flower represents the sister he had that throughout the story El Patrón said died of typhoid and was barely tall enough to see over the windowsill “no, not even on tiptoe”. The crest and crown of my shield are meant to resemble El Patrón himself. In english El Patrón means the boss, to…

In the near future, I see myself winning the Revolution War with the Patriots. I can picture it in my head, every single little detail. I will be at the front of the army as we charge towards the Redcoats. We will be fierce and strong in our ragged clothes and bare feet. We will stand firm when the British try to fight us. If they beat us, we will stubbornly keep coming back until they raise the white flag! I know it seems hard to believe but if you see it from my perspective, I am sure I will change your mind. Right now I am at Valley Forge in the 1700’s. It is dreary, smoky, and cold but I always try to be optimistic. I try to boost my fellow soldiers’ spirits. I am usually successful, though most men are going home and not returning.…

My whole symbol revolves around an American flag because I am American. On stripes area of the flag I put the sports that I play every year, which are basketball, football, baseball, and track. If you look inside the track symbol you will see the number 400 because I run 400’s in track. The basketball is the biggest and in the middle because it is my favorite sport to play. If you follow the sports counter clock wise around the flag you will find the order of my favorite sports. I like basketball because you get to run a lot and it could get physical. I like football because you get to tackle kids without getting in trouble. The reason I do track is to travel to towns with your friends and to get the feeling of winning. I enjoy playing baseball…

My family crest is centered around three subjects: Family, Faith, and Life. All three subjects are divided by colors, the colors all having a special meaning behind them. Family is symbolized by a heart due to the amount of love I have for my relatives. Faith is symbolized by a cross, because the cross represents Christianity. Life is symbolized by a globe, because the amount of life on earth is innumerable. My family crest overall is kid themed, as portrayed by the vast variety of colors. The background of the actual crest is the Mexico flag, thus representing my heritage. Therefore, the colors and symbols shown on the board simply make up my entire life.…

After hours of sitting in the passenger seat of a white Ford F-150 watching cornfield after cornfield after cornfield fly by my hallow stomach let out a roar like a lion on the African safari, my dad takes his eyes off the road and says,” skip lunch much?” Then I saw it, the light at the end of a hundred and eighty-six-mile-long tunnel on the left hand side of the road “Cracker Barrel.” I sat down at the table and know what I was going to order. Our waitress plopped down a half pound of perfectly prepared beef deliciousness topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. I devoured it, we were back on the road to castle Vanm. I woke up the next morning excited to shoot my first gun on the farm. My dad walked out and unsheathed a over and under…

On September 11, 2001 our country was rocked to its core. Even though I was only four years old, I remember seeing the shock and disbelief on my parents’ face as they watched the catastrophe unfold. I also remember seeing pictures of an American flag waving in the middle of rubble. Though our country was shaken we were also united. Citizens began to show patriotism more than ever before and display courage against our enemies. Patriotism is important to me because of my freedom, my faith, and my family.…

My army career was right on track. I had been in the 3 years at this point, coming up on 4, and already had completed air assault school, been awarded my expert infantry badge, and had one 15 month deployment under my belt. I was assigned to the scout platoon sniper section and was waiting for a sniper school packet to get final approval from the company commander. I had been studying for the sergeant promotion board for months. I knew that study guide like the back of my hand, I knew whatever question I was asked by the Command Sergeant Major I would have an answer for. I went to the promotion board that morning and blew it out of the water. My dress uniform was perfect. No one was able to find a single deficiency. The Soldiers Creed and the…

One of the greater struggles in life is having to gather your belongings and move across the state into a different house. Packing your bags and moving 5,000 miles away to a different country is a lot harder. When I was only eight years old, I bid a farewell to my family and hoped on a plane from Sao Paulo to New York City. There, my step-father greeted my mother and I with a warm welcome and a long drive to Indiana. Although the transition from a city lover to a small-town girl was difficult, the obstacle that set me back the most was the language barrier. As I started school in the United States, I found myself to be very excluded from others. Not knowing the Pledge of Allegiance or understand anything in my classroom made me feel very homesick and embarrassed.…

The ordeal, the brotherhood that went in hand with the ordeal, was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I could do as a scout. Being in a special type of honor society for scouting was something that I wanted to be a part of for the longest time when I started scouting at the age of eleven and was something that I had always envisioned myself completing while in scouting along with becoming an Eagle Scout. However, as a seven-teen-year-old, I had forgotten about my goal and what it had meant to me to complete the ordeal for the Order of the Arrow (OA) due to new goals and priorities. Due to the persistent nagging from my parents and what they felt was right for me, I went through the ordeal no matter how I felt.…
