Enduring Hardships Personal Response Everyone copes with hardships in different ways. Some people tend to escape their difficulties and start to seek short cuts, while others face the adversities and patiently overcome them. In “The Mercy” (by Philp Levine), the speaker’s mother faced the adversity of not knowing how to perform certain tasks that may seem ordinary in U.S.A, but she remained patient while she learned how to perform those tasks. When I was left, abandoned, in Fort Saskatchewan, I kept calm and I assured myself that my peers will notice my absence.…

Walking into the locker room about to get ready to go to our last football game of the season. I could smell the sweaty equipment from the kids who never take their pads home. Honesty, authenticity, genuineness, bravery, and valor are my top strengths. I was shocked by these results not only because I feel they are extremely accurate, but these are the things I value most in life, especially honesty, I feel that you can hate a man to the core, but if that man is a truly honest man you can only respect him. I want to be an epitome of a truly honest man, and I believe my character strengths will help me achieve this goal. My bottom strengths were the love of learning, self-control, and regulation. I feel these strengths are just as important as my top strengths, and I need to maximize them all in order to become a great leader. My leadership style is best described as a funnel. My aim in leading others is not to conduct every single individual, but to guide everyone to work towards the same central goal. I believe it is best to let others bring their own unique abilities to the table and use them to accomplish the task at hand. One of my most memorable experiences as a leader was leading my school’s student section. When I came into high school, school spirit was a joke. At games, everyone sat and no one said a thing. I decided that needed to change. My fellow students didn’t want change. They told my friends and I to sit down and shut up. I kept standing, I yelled louder, and kept going. Eventually, I started a spark. By the end of my freshman year there were a group…

Leadership and resilience are crucial to establish and accomplish a mission. The Brazilian Army has a publication concerning leadership, Manual de Campanha C 20-10 - Lideranca Militar, 2ª edicao, 2011. However, this manual does not reach directly the importance of resilience as a determinant factor to prepare Soldiers. Leadership provides objective, motivation, and guidance while resilience brings the ability to recover from difficulties, and to adapt a new environments. Thus, they walk together to achieve the success of a mission. The military profession is different of the other professions because Soldiers must be ready to use lethal force and have to be brave to outgrow several kinds of threats (ADRP 6-22, 2012). Therefore, the leadership and resilience present the same importance in the MRT program. Through some attributes taught in the MRT, Soldiers can develop the resilience and other leadership skills simultaneously.…
