Personal Narrative: My Procrastion Beliefs
Here are some of my procrastination beliefs;
To begin with, one of my procrastination belief is “It’s not due yet”. I like to do my assignment on the last minute. I usually do this because I always tell myself that I have plenty of time to do it. My challenge is, I always fool myself that I have plenty of time to do my assignment as a result I do them under pleasure and I don’t write the best paper.
Another procrastination belief is “I don’t feel like doing it now, I am always lazy to start working on my assignment, especially writing assignments. I normally feel this way because I don’t like writing and I don’t feel like doing it. My challenge is, doing assignment should not be based on whether I feel like doing it or not.
I really mean

    The art of procrastination has troubled high school kids for quite some time now. Im sitting here typing my own essay at the eleventh hour, hoping that as the deadline approaches I can piece together an essay to save my grade. “Procrastination is for the efficient at heart”, this quote captures the procrastinators only strength: the ability to make the most out of the time they have. Most students will crack as the pressure of meeting the deadline with quality work overbears them, as they regretfully wish they spent their time wiser. Few will rise up to the challenge and meet the standards, but what separates the students who succeed and those who miserably fail?…

    There are times where I have assignments and obligations that I tend to push back until close to the due date. In my head, I think “it will get done on time”. Doing this is not the best idea because it causes stress to scramble and get the assignment done. Along with this, my time management skills need some improvement. There…

    Procrastination is a trait I have wanted to change about myself for a very long time. I always put things off telling myself I will get to it, which leads to years of stalling. My issue with procrastination has hindered me in many ways, one being, applying for college. I believe a fixed mindset has prevented me from changing this trait because I sometimes shy away from change, therefore leading me to feel as though I have time, which prevents me from achieving those things I dream of. From a growth mindset point of view, I would change this by embracing challenges and believing that my life can be continuously…

    My kids are the reason I procrastinate mostly and then other times it is because I am afraid I am going to fail at my assignments so I guess I try to put them off as long as I know I can. My kids usually need most of my time so I make excuses for being able to work on my assignments. I say to myself a lot “Well I can do this assignment in the morning before the kids get up and these two other assignments I could do on Friday”.…

    Berkman, a Psychologist wrote about various problems we procrastinate. One that caught my attention was that it’s a choice whether to complete an assignment, do something fun or simply nothing. He quotes “When the value of something else outweighs the value of working now.” More clearly students don’t see the value of their homework any better than going out to a party and having fun so they leave homework undone and so something more pleasurable.…

    After reading chapters 1 and 2 in the Curious Writer book, I discovered a few things about my writing habits. I tend to write safe, only because I struggle with writing and for a while I did not enjoy it. However, I know the importance of writing so when I need to write something it takes me twice as long as it should because I constantly second guess what I previously had wrote. Following my tendency of writing safe, I also procrastinate. I know I choose to procrastinate with assignments, writing assignments the most, because it feels tortuous to me. The assignments are not enjoyable and I would much rather do something I enjoy like being with friends or being active. Why would I want to do an assignment that takes up hours of my day when…

    Procrastination has become such a bad habit for me. It is hard for me to stop procrastinating. I believe I do my best writing at the last minute. I usually wait until the night before to do most of it. I am usually up late the night before the paper is due. Having things due dates has kept me on task, and keeps me from procrastinating until the day before the paper is due. There was one paper which we had to get sources for a while before the paper was due and it forced me to keep up with the paper, rather than let it go to the last minute. This class has taught me that the earlier you start the more positive your result will be. That was my mistake with the argumentative paper.…

    “There's nothing wrong with procrastination. Or is there? I'll leave it to you to decide, but only if you have the time.”- Craig Brown. Procrastinating plays a role in someone’s life. It is something that we all as humans try to overcome, but in reality, it is something that will impact us in some way, at any cost. Procrastination is a habit of putting off a task until a later time what could or should have been done at that time. It’s a tormenting weakness I’m struggling with and it’s keeping me back from being successful. It’s like an virus eating up my body infecting various parts of my life.…

    11:20 PM found me in front of a glowing computer screen yet again. The essay was assigned weeks ago, but I was cursed with the bad habit of procrastinating. As the writers said “Find the way to ‘get motivated’” (Moore, Baker, Packer,39). I think writers means that you should inspired yourself and find some reasons for yourself to do your work. In my perspective, we can tell ourselves some benefit if I can have done this work. For example, in my college life we also have lots of homework need to do, but most of time I do my homework before due time only few hours. Therefore, sometimes I cannot do my homework. If I can inspire myself do homework few days before due day, which I think I can get good job. Just like writers said when you feel you are procrastination, think about the benefit if you can finish work. You can get some motivation to do it.…
