Personal Narrative: My Work Experience At Queens University

It's one thing to watch things unfold, but it's completely different when you are taking initiative on how it unfolds. During my time spent at Queens College I had the opportunity to work in diverse occupations both academically and non-academically. The experience gained from the variety of occupations helped me realize my interest academically and professionally; such as the ability in taking psychological knowledge and applying it into the work environment.
While completing my undergrad at Queens College I was able to gain a well-rounded experience by being involved with Student Association. The mission of Student Association is to make Queens College a community that looks out for their students while making their college experiences enjoyable and full of opportunity to develop. The environments I work in have centered around customer service, therefore adjusting communication was essential for providing the best services. The length of time I have spent at my different occupations, allowed me to gain responsibility in training new employees for positions. Furthermore, these experience showed me the value of teamwork and the importances in effectively collaborate with others to meet quotas and deadlines.
In addition to my work experience, the courses I took towards my major also influenced me to pursue a master's degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology. Industrial Organizational Psychology was an elective I took as an undergraduate to fulfil a requirement towards my major, which opened up a new range of study in psychology.
