It was July 25th, 2018 we decided to stay even with the shark attacks, Ashley, her parents and I had all planned to explore the island starting with seeing Poas Volcano. Ashley’s parents had picked a beach access where you would have the best view of the sunset. Shortly after we had been out on the beach we had realized why the news kept saying that the shark attacks were strange, because there was a nine foot great white shark WALKING out of the ocean toward us. The first thing that had come to our minds was to run, we all ran except Ashley she was frozen with fear. A split second had passed before all we heard was her screaming and all u could see from her lg was blood, the shark had bitten half her leg off. Instantly the sirens were in the air again coming to take the fifth victim of the walking shark back to the emergency room. Amputation was required for the remainder of Ashley’s right leg due to inflammation. That was the story of how I ended up in a Costa Rica hospital during my summer
