I went upstairs to my room. I could not find the box I was looking for so I went across the hall to my moms room. I started looking through the heavy stack of boxes, after a few minutes I found it. I turned around and went to the window because I saw someone at the driveway. I caught a glimpse of a man in the driveway, which is where my moms window looks down to. The man was wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans. His face was hidden under the hood of his sweatshirt. …show more content…
I just thought maybe he was lost or walking around the neighborhood.
I thought it was weird though, he was just staring at the house. He started to walk away and he disappeared along the road. I went to my room to unpack. My mom took longer than I expected to get back home to make dinner, so I just made a small snack for myself in the kitchen. It was dark and I thought my mom was in a long line or she remembered a few more things we needed. I set up Netflix on my phone and I ate downstairs while watching some a scary movie. About 10 minutes after I sat down, I heard a sound outside. I jumped up to see if someone was home, no one was. The back door was open and I thought it was the dogs playing on the
porch.
I sat back down and started the movie again. After I calmed down a bit, I heard another sound. I knew it was the dogs so I put them inside to lay down. My mom said to leave the back door open, but at that moment I was too afraid to. I closed it without locking it. I knew I was scaring myself. This was not a big deal. I thought I should turn the movie off because it was a scary movie and I did not want it to make me even more scared. It started to get dark, I started to get worried about my mom. I picked up my phone and called her. I waited for an answer, my mom finally answered and I asked why she was taking so long. Turns out that they went out to eat and we're getting me leftovers. I did not care but I wanted them to hurry so I wasn't alone.
I started to calm down a lot more. I was feeling okay now and I wasn't scared. I set up a new movie on my phone and started to doze off on the couch. After a few minutes I was woken up by a loud scary banging noise. I waited for a minute or so and not another sound came. I put my head back on the pillow and closed my eyes again. BANG! The sound came again, I sprung to life and ran upstairs. I tried to keep quiet until the dogs started running after me. The top stair came and I turned around to calm the dogs down. I hid beside the wall and waited for the next sound to arrive. I wanted to call my mom but I realized that I forgot my phone downstairs. I slowly crept down the stairs. To get to my phone I would have to pass the front door. I felt an urge that led me to see who was at the door, I turned to the door and my attention was no longer on the phone. I looked through the peek hole and it was the man. The same man, dressed in a black hoodie and blue jeans.
I was really hoping mom would be back soon. I sat on the last step and hid behind the wall again, waiting for him to leave. I knew the next knock would make the dogs bark and maybe he would go away. There wasn't a next knock. I was so relieved that he left, so I went to make sure he was gone. I looked through the peek hole and saw the black hoodie extremely close to the hole. Almost like he was trying to look through the other side. I kept looking and saw that he turned around and ran off the porch and across the street. I ran upstairs to look through my moms window and saw that he was in the driveway looking at the house. He looked to his right quickly and ran to his left. As I watched him run I saw my moms car pulling into the driveway.
I was so happy she was home. I jumped down the stairs three at a time. I ran to the garage and I opened my moms door to hug her. She asked what was wrong. I told her the story as we walked into the house. Her jaw dropped. We were both very happy that she was home.
