The intricacies of the human body captivated my interest to no end; I found that my love for the sciences and for biology in specific had finally been localized into one field: the science of medicine. Boustany’s holistic approach to research, as an M.D., that had been so intriguing about her work. I realized that as an M.D., I could learn with no end about human biology and correlate my knowledge with biomedical research. It then came to me that clinical medicine is no longer a separate field from biomedical research. Rather, they complement each other when it comes to finding cures for diseases. A physician should not be an automated machine, carrying out what he/she read in their textbooks, but should rather look further into developing better effective therapies for diseases.
