In May 2015, I completed a FETAC level 5 course in Nursing Studies. I feel that this course has helped me to build a good foundation in which I can …show more content…
I enjoyed these modules because I loved discovering how the human body works and how it can be treated when it becomes damaged. I also loved finding out information on the different stages of human growth and development and how it varies from each individual. I enjoyed reading about the scientists that came up with different stages and solutions as to why things happened the way it did.
My desire to become a nurse has been enhanced further by my time spent in the nursing home where I did my work experience. I feel as if my experience has given me the skills, knowledge and work ethics to get me started with this profession. I enjoyed talking to the residents and developing relationships with them. I am, and have been part of my church choir for over eight years now. This has been an excellent experience for my interpersonal skills as it involves co-operating with everyone and singing in harmony with the people beside you. It has increased my motivation to work with others because everyone was in sync.
I believe it is necessary to understand what being a nurse entails. I know that I am ready for the commitment and academic challenges. Should I be offered an Adult nursing course, my ultimate goal would be to specialize in Pediatric nursing. Hopefully once I’m qualified I will apply for a position in this field.
The reason I’m choosing this field to specialise in is because I grew interest in caring for children ever since I attended a babysitting course in 2013. From all my experience of babysitting over the summer, I love the presence of children and helping them with their needs, which made me consider specializing as a pediatric nurse at the end of my degree.
I am aware that dedication and utmost devotion is required for this position. It will really test my patience and perseverance, but it will be all worth it at the end. I am fully committed to beginning my journey towards a rewarding and hardworking career in
