It wouldn't make sense for the FDA to be in charge of the safety and labeling of all of our food except for GMO-free foods. We shouldn't be splitting the responsibility for food safety and labeling between different agencies. It will only cause a lot of confusion for everyone. When something goes wrong, we won't know who's responsible. If the FDA is in charge when a recall or something else happens, then there's one agency people can look to for answers. When they each create their own laws and regulations, no two state's laws are going to look exactly alike. Food producers will have to maintain multiple labels for the same product and that will add to their production costs. Of course, that extra cost is going to be passed down to the consumers at the grocery store. State regulation will lead to even higher food prices with no end in sight. Please keep GMO-free foods safety and labeling with the FDA and help keep the costs of our food from going even
