Using a cell phone while driving can cause the driver to take their eye off the road and cause them to think about what’s going on with their cell phone. When a phone call comes through on the driver’s cell phone, this distracts them from paying attention to the road. This is a major cause of accidents and deaths on the road. This also is putting drivers life in danger. While drivers may think they can handle talking on the phone they tend to miss visual and audio clues to avoid crashes. For example, there could be a crash on the highway. Drivers pick up their cell phone to call spouse or a friend to inform them of the trouble car crash. In the split second you looked down to dial the number you didn’t see the sign that said “right lane closed.” You then look up and realize that you are now in the right lane were the accident occurred. Before you could slow down or even stop you run into the back of a car that was just in an accident. Now because you picked up your cell phone instead of consternating on the road you put yourself in a situation you did not have to be in. This is just a few reasons why concentration on the road is so critical to prevent accidents.…

Accidents happen everyday on the road. Some are from bad weather conditions, others are because the driver is under the influence of alcohol, and many are caused by distracted drivers on their cellular phone. If people were more aware of how many people are injured or killed by someone who was using their phone while driving , then they wouldn't use their own phone while driving. If making a law that says it is illegal to use a handheld phone and drive will make people stop becoming distracted while driving, then it should be put into effect. A solution for a driver who wants to use their phone while driving would be to use the hands free option on their phone, or to purchase a tool to hold the phone while driving.…

One reason the majority of people are against this action is because it causes a great amount of car accidents every year. While driving, adults and teenagers cannot resist the urge to pick up their cell phone and send a text or respond to one, and as soon as the driver’s eyes meet their cellular device, their focus on the road is drawn away. In 2009, 5,474 lives were taken and 448,000 people got injured from car accidents from being distracted while driving, says the “Outlawing Text Messaging WHile Driving: Legislators in Several States Respond to Safety Concerns” U.S. News and World Report article. The lives of innocent people are being taken every day due to a simple distraction. Car crashes are four times more common to take place while the driver is on their mobile device over any other causes. Most people don’t seem to realize how careless they can be while driving a car. Most of young drivers do not know how bad a car accident could be until they get involved into one. Sine the very first cell phones, people have been using them and talked on them while driving; This has caused numerous accidents and has caused the accidental death of many. It would only seem right to make the use of cell phones whilst driving illegal, but what i think would be a better idea is have a age requirement. Most young people haven't developed good enough driving skills whereas people with more experience obtained, have slower reaction times, and lose focus easier. When adolescence first get their drivers license they have very little experience and have less skills then that of their elders. Most accidents are caused by teenagers with less then three years of experience driving, add a phone into the mix and their driving skills would decrease.…
