Planting Tree
Vietnam is one of the five countries that suffers the most from global warming. It’s also among the top ten countries with the worst air quality. In fact, 16000 deaths are caused each year only because of air pollution.

Activities:
Join other volunteers to plant trees in local parks, along city streets, on school campuses.
We also provide free training on how to plant and care for a tree.
We hold many tree planting events throughout the year especially in spring because that’s the best time to plant a tree.
Planting a tree is such an simple act but it has many long-term benefits and it can make a huge difference to the environment.
On a world-wide scale, trees help to slow down the effects of global warming by using up carbon dioxide and giving out the oxygen we need to breathe.
On a local neighborhood level, trees offer shade and shelter, which in turn reduces the amount of energy we need to heat and cool buildings, at the same time they remove the impurities from the air we breathe.
Urban trees are especially important because for many people they provide the only daily contact with the natural world.
Urban trees also provide a home for birds, small animals and butterflies.

A forest, also referred to as a wood or the woods, is an area with a high density of trees. As with cities, depending on various cultural definitions, what is considered a forest may vary significantly in size and have different classifications according to how and of what the forest is composed.[1] A forest is usually an area filled with trees but any tall densely packed area of vegetation may be considered a forest, even underwater vegetation such as kelp forests, or non-vegetation such as fungi,[2] and bacteria. Tree forests cover approximately 9.4 percent of the Earth's surface (or 30 percent of total land area), though they once covered much more (about 50 percent of total land area). They function as habitats for organisms, hydrologic flow modulators, and soil conservers, constituting one of the most important aspects of the biosphere.…

Planting a Sequoia is a poem written by Dana Gioia, and it’s about a man planting a tree, to commemorate the death and birth of his son. This poem has three main themes which would be life and death, tradition and grief. The poem starts off with the voice of the father who is speaking to his dead son as he starts to plant a tree and explains the tradition in Sicily, Italy where at the birth of the first son, the father would normally plant a fig or olive tree. But to his son that died, he plants a sequoia with a lock of hair and the umbilical cord which personalizes the tree, and gives a stronger representation of the dead son to the father.…

A common misconception about a tree is that its roots grow down, but this is not actually the case. The roots of a tree spread out very wide, potentially as wide as the tree’s leaves spread themselves. Now I’m sure many of you have seen trees planted along sidewalks and streets in Toronto. On the lakeshore between Carlaw and Coxwell for example, there are very thin lane dividers with grass on them. Now fairly recently, the city of Toronto has planted numerous trees along those dividers, with the idea that in some years from now, the whole strip would look beautiful with all the trees fully grown. But those trees will never get the chance to grow up. When planting trees you really need to look at the surrounding area of where the tree is being planted. Like I said before, a tree’s roots need to spread out very wide in order for the…

The effects of deforestation on the environment are numerous. The reduction of forests upsets the entire ecological cycle. The forests are home to a number of plants and animals. When a forest is cut down, the whole cycle suffers. Most of all the forests act as a carbon "sink". That is they help to take in carbon, a green house gas, and offset its effect on the atmosphere. Also trees and plants on a forest can help to supply an alternative source of fossil fuels. Tree planting is also good for urban development. They…

Throughout this world we see trees just about everywhere. As children we don’t really pay too much attention to them other than climbing them, or finding ways to swing from them like a monkey. The thing that most of us don’t realize is how vital trees are to our lives, our water, to our soil, to our air, and to our atmosphere. Over the years the amount of trees in the world has been dwindling considerably to point that it has been affecting multiple areas. In one area of the world this was taking a drastic hit on the land. In 1977 a woman from Nairobi, Kenya named Professor Wangari Maathai realized this, and she took charge to fix this issue. The way she went about fixing the issue of so many trees being cut down was by founding the program called “The Green Belt Movement” (Unattributed, 2006).…
