Poseidon Informative Speech
For my informative essay I chose to write about Poseidon. Poseidon was born from Cronus and Rhea and had five siblings in Hades, Demeter, Hestia, Hera, and Zeus. Poseidon is described as being a mature man with a sturdy build and a dark beard while hes holding a trident. Poseidon also had seven kids in Theseus, Triton, Polyphemus, Belus, Agenor, Neleus, and Atlas. Poseidon is also Known for having a uncontrollable temper which usually results in violence.
Poseidon or Neptune in Roman is known as the God of the Sea, Earthquakes, Storms, Droughts, and Horses.One myth about Poseidon is when he banged his trident on the floor this would be the cause of an Earthquake. Poseidon was the protector of the seas and Sailors usually relied
on Poseidon for a safe trip. Poseidon's main way of transportation was a chariot pulled by horses.
Myth has it that Poseidon along with every sibling except for Zeus was swallowed by his father at birth (Cronus a titan) because Cronus didn't want to get overruled by one of his children. Zeus got the help of the goddess Elixir to help free his siblings. Then the Titan war starts, the Titan War was a ten year war between six Titans and ten Gods. The Titans were Cronus, Coeus, Crius, Lapetus, Menoetius, and Atlas. The ten Gods were Hyperion, Oceanus, Themis, Helios, Eos, Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Prometheus, and Epimetheus. The gods in the end ended up winning the fight after the ten years of battling.
Since he had a bad temper whenever Poseidon got angry he is known to have a calling of clouds and gathering a storm. Poseidon also had the power to create a safe voyage for travelers. Poseidon is also known as the creator of the horse. Poseidon's symbols are The Dolphin, The horse, or the Trident. Usually when you saw a dolphin, a horse, or a trident its symbolizing Poseidon.
