On the Research Paper:
“Discruptive Devices: Mobile
Technology for Conversational Learning”
I. Introduction
The research paper entitled Disctuptive Devices:Mobile Technology Learning for Conversational Learning states that educators consider mobile phones as threats that would disrupt the peaceful and sealed environment in the classroom. Because students puts there attention into thing that are on there phones instead of the things that are being thought. And because of this students and pupils are forbiden to use mobile phones in the classroom because educators believes that it disrupt lessons and lectures and thus disturbes the progress of the student using it and not only that, it also disturbes the progress of the entire class. This generaly states and also as mentioned in the Research Paper “The response of educational intitution to such powerful technologies has, almost universally, been to treat them as threat to be countered.”
The paper also mentions another problem “Schools, Colleges and and Universities are starved of IT resources, and in many cases are failing to make best use of those resources they have.” So instead of addressin the problems of mobile phone disrupting the peaceful flow of education, the paper discusses how the second problem would be resolved, through the design of mobile technology that could support effective learning within and outside the classroom. So thus instead of becoming a threat in learning, mobile technology would become a tool in learning. But a mobile learning device could still hold threats, as mentioned in the paper, “if this powerful technology is carried in the classroom or the lecture theatre it can cause chaos. The students create links to the outside world, to a world of activities and conversational that they control, and that match neither the teacher’s agenda nor the curriculum”.
II. Counter Argument
Mobiles can be used everywhere and can be used into almost
