The results of the civil war are clear and undeniable. The Union won the Confederates lost. It was a long bloody war that cost the south more than just the war. During the course of the war many of the slaves were liberated or ran away. While the freeing of the slaves was a good step it was a step that caused many Southerners and especially the plantation owners to go bankrupt. Part of the reason the South struggled was the fact that they had very few factories with which to produce their own guns, ammunition and other offensive and defensive military equipment. The North could, instead of having to import their clothes, food and military supplies, they produced it in their factories, making it harder to cut off some of their supplies. That made it a little easier on the citizens of the north as well, They didn’t have to give up as much of their normal supplies.
