Poverty In Brazil Research Paper
In Brazil there is poverty and we can help. Brazil is one of the worst countries when it comes to poverty. In 2012, about 26 percent of the Brazil’s population was below the poverty line. (Sarah de Sainte Croix, para.3) We often do not think about it because we are not there or most of us here do not experience poverty. It is a real problem that is going on in the world and we know this. We have to acknowledge it and address it. We have to face poverty and put forth an effort to reduce it. Even if we are not in Brazil to help there are many practical ways that people can help from anywhere in the world but especially here in America. America is fortunate and because of that we have the ability and ways that we can help this problem in Brazil. …show more content…
In the church there are also missions and fund raising opportunities for a donation to the cause or the option to volunteer as a missionary. Aside from the church all of these are practical ways to help, whether it is by writing a check or volunteering your time, service, and efforts. An example of this is a non profit organization called TechnoServe, their goal is to reduce poverty all over the world including Brazil. At their website you can make a donation or follow their missions and the different works they do and even become part of them and volunteer. Also, partnership on any level is appreciated and helpful. “Public and private partners are a key component of TechnoServe’s success.” (TechnoServe website) This means that we can help from exactly where we are at anytime and that there are ways of doing so. The best way to help in Brazil is the most practical way, that is to actually go to Brazil and face the problem of poverty head on there. Certainly, everyone is not going to do this because we are not all missionaries or are devoted to efforts that involve leaving the country but a few may. As for the rest, they can still help from here in ways previously described. The best way though, is to simply meet the problem face to face. To meet those that are in poverty and immediately help them. That is how we can best serve the cause is by being …show more content…
The cause being to reduce poverty, around the world would be great, but in this case specifically Brazil because poverty is so largely in place there. Brazil has much poverty because of the poor economy in their past and their large population. We can assist them as they grow and make efforts in doing so practically. Many of the ways to help are already in place. We can take advantage of these fortunate opportunities. If we really care though the best way to help is to get involved and serve. Since we are at the liberty to do these things we should not take them for granted. Taking advantage of the ways already in place is how we can help reduce poverty in

In most nations where poverty is wide spread, the lack of funding from the nation’s government and the global community is almost always a major obstacle. Money is considered a language of its own; everybody understands it and will use it. Major components that can help people get out of poverty needs to be paid. But often the government of the developing nation spends so much money on welfare programs and food distribution programs that they have no money left over to try to pull the country out of poverty. That means the government cannot afford things like teachers and schools to educate their citizens, doctors and hospitals to combat the spread of disease, better farming equipment to increase the food supply, and much more.…

There are limitless options in helping poverty. Helping just one person in need is enough, however one must ask: How many people are willing to help? To make a world-wide difference on poverty, many people must be willing to help. Abdul Edhi, a well-known philanthropist of Pakistan, lives the simplest life one can imagine in Pakistan. He raises and funds massive amounts of money for the poor, yet he, himself, lives a simple, plain life. He sacrificed most of his worldly pleasures to dedicate himself to helping the poor. If there were more people like Edhi, imagine how much change will come to the world. People who are oblivious to poverty, do not have much knowledge about poverty, and how it plays an important role in affecting other issues as well. People need to be more aware of poverty in that sense because poverty affects numerous other places as well. Poverty negatively affects education, economy, society, and most importantly, the people of the country. When a person is poor, he has trouble providing education for himself because he is too busy thinking about how to feed his family and himself. He desperately needs a job, but works as a laborer instead, since this job requires less skill. He asks for some people in society to help him, but they are too absorbed in their own work to even notice his cries for help. This explains how poverty really affects…

Brazil’s population also plays an important aspect in the international arena; it ranks fifth in the world in terms of its population with over 186 million people. Slavery was abolished in 1888, which over time a further blurred racial lines; Brazil is a mixture of races and ethnicities, resulting in rich diversity. Approximately 80% of its population is Roman Catholic. Despite the mixing of ethnicities; there is a class system in Brazil. Thus, there is a great disparity in wage differentials--and therefore lifestyle and social aspirations among the different classes (Brazilian Culture, Family, and Its Ethnic-Cultural Variety, 193). On the other hand, Brazil’s current economic situation is at its best. Today most of the world is consumed in debt and dealing with high levels of unemployment; Brazil instead is trying to see how to manage its economic boom. It was the last country to enter the great recession…

The United States populates over 325 million people. Of these 325 million, 13.5 percent of them are under the poverty threshold, which is about 42.3 million people. These people are lacking of basic requirements for living such as money, clothes, a home, food, and even education. Without their basic requirements for living it makes it harder for them to get out of their current situation. Even though the government have tried to step in and solve this problem, the government programs that are set up are not enough. There should be more solutions to poverty, because without the help of others most families have trouble with their living condition, the negative views on the people that are in need , and the destiny that awaits for those suffering…

Wouldn't anyone want help in a bad situation? Peter Singer brings up an excellent set of points. First, ”If we can prevent something bad without sacrificing anything of significant importance, we ought to do it.” Second, ”Absolute poverty is bad.” Third, ”There is absolute poverty we can prevent without sacrificing anything of moral significance.” In conclusion, “We ought to prevent some absolute poverty”(345). It makes perfect sense that if it doesn't cost us more than it's helping, we should help people who are not as lucky as us. It says in the United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights, that “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person.” Being born into a life that…

Throughout the world, poverty has become prevalent. Each day one is exposed to constant reminders of the millions suffering from hunger and the thousands dying of starvation. We watch television and view commercials urging us to sponsor a child for ten dollars a month; or encounter those that are homeless begging for spare change so that they may purchase, what will presumably be, their only meal of the day. It is heart wrenching and, unfortunately, a sad reality for countless individuals. “Billions exist on less than one U.S. dollar a day, and several have limited or no access to quality drinking water and food, health care, education, and employment opportunities” (Cooper). Particularly high in several developing countries, poverty has become a universal concern. However, by increasing…
