CASE STUDY ON PRITHVI ELECTRICALS
Should Gopal be hired?
Although he has been offered the job Gordhandas should reconsider the role and responsibilities he is offering to Gopal as Entering into a new segment in the market requires stepwise planning and testing and taking feedback hence just by assigning Gopal and providing him with a target is not a recommendable step to take.
Should Gopal accept the offer?
PRO’s
* Obvious position and salary hike. * Has experience in a similar industry and has already established good connections with distributers as he was the Area Sales Manager. * He is supposed to lead the business and start from scratch; so he can lay down his previously tested set of rules and framework. He is the Boss in this business. * Need not relocate as he stays in Bangalore.
CON’s

Our take – Gopal should accept the job offer.
Product Pricing * B2B marketing does not involve extensive advertising (direct mails or sales calls should suffice), thus “Prithvi” can save on advertisements and come up with a competitive price for their motors. * According to the survey, almost 94% of buyers think “Delivery” is most important and as “Prithvi” is based in Bangalore so it can save on delivery costs too which would help in competitive product pricing.
After sales services * As the factory is located in Bangalore, quicker after sales services is possible for Karnataka. * Though only 73% of buyers think “Service” is a priority, “Prithvi’s” sales professionals should be in touch with its customers and it is not a difficult task as the customer base is not large in a B2B scenario.
Strategy
For the new 250W AC Motors business * Distribution -
Firstly, with his extensive industry experience, Gopal can bring in more distributors as well as sell through existing dealers.
Secondly, marketing channels like direct sales, telemarketing and direct mails may be considered as it ensures larger market coverage while minimising

It was a bright, beautiful day in Texas when all of a sudden, I heard gun shots. My crew and I were in the second car behind the president and the governor of Texas along with their wives. Everyone was applauding and cheering, having a wonderful time. I, Bob Walker, was looking out of the car window watching everything that was happening. I then heard *boom, boom, boom*, I thought it was fireworks until another secret service man anxiously say “the president has been shot!” All of us piled out of the car and I ran and jumped on top of the president hopefully shielding him from any further injuries.…

How did the conflict between labor and business play out in the late 19th century? In the late 19th century, a conflict between labor and business grew as businesses began to cut wages, ignore the poor condition of their employee’s working environment, extend the hours in a workday, and laid off thousands of employees. From this conflict, massive strikes, organized refusals to work, and unions, groups formed together to improve working conditions, came into action. A notable strike known as the Homestead Strike, one of the most significant strikes in U.S. history, occurred when the manager of a steel mill cut wages by 20 percent. This enraged the workers at the mill, causing them to form strikes, which led to bloodshed between strikebreakers…

There are a number of good candidates for the position. Depending upon the firm’s HR philosophy, different candidates could be viewed as the best choice. The best candidate from an ethnocentric point of view is either Tom Wallace or Brett Harrison. Wallace has the edge over Harrison due to his longer tenure with TCT and relevant experience with a similar operation in the U.S. From a polycentric approach, Saumitra Chakraborty would be the best selection. Although young, he is well connected with the local business community and would be best able to integrate TCT’s operations into the local situation. From a geocentric perspective, Jalan Bukit Seng is a good fit. He has a broad multicultural background and experience managing a similar operation successfully in Malaysia. It is critical that TCT have a person with line experience in the position to assure product quality and to control costs. Tom Wallace has that experience and would be able to manage the companies operations well. A case could be argued for a number of the candidates.…
