Process Essay
Among the many important responsibilities dog owners have, training a dog is among the most important. Well-trained dogs are easier to love, & live happier lives. How do you cope when your brand new tennis shoes are destroyed or when a very important paper is ripped to shreds? Naturally you would get frustrated with your dog’s bad habit. Now imagine how different things would be if you would have started a discipline training with your dog when he or she were younger. Before training your dog there are things we must also remember. There are three important factors to training your dog patience, consistency, and reinforcement.
Being patient allows your dog to fully grasp the concept you are trying to teach. Rushing your dog will only allow confusion. It’s very important to keep a patient attitude so that the dog will feel accomplished after it learns a new command. Eventually the dog will understand and will continue listening to your commands. If you are not a patient person dog training is not for you.
Just like a human cannot recite a full paragraph after reading once, a dog cannot sit after being told only once. It’s important to practice each and every day with your pet in order for it to be knowledgeable of commands you teach. Several dog owners practice “yard work commands” with their dog only a few times and expect the dog to know from their out. Dogs lose memory just as well as humans do. In order to keep a knowledgeable dog you must stay consistent with your training.
Positive and negative reinforcement are used to show the dog love, but also to show who is boss. Positive reinforcement shows the dog affection it’s important so that the dog is not a coward towards its owner. Negative reinforcement is used so that the dog will understand you are in command and not him or her. That way you do not have to deal with the dog misbehaving. If you are a hunter and take your dog, it’s important that he or she minds for yours and its safety. Without this

Each dog breed has a varying intelligence quotient, making it harder or easier to train certain dogs. An individual should consider how patient and steady he or she is willing to be when it comes to training a dog and should then apply that to which breed would fit best with their personality. The intelligence of a dog is based on how quickly and consistently it learns and obeys commands, how well it performs a given task, and how willing it is to learn humanistic jobs. Border collies are said to be the smartest dog breed as they learn quickly and have “amazing instinct and working ability.” They are known to herd sheep and remain in control of a flock, just as shepherds do. Have you ever seen a dog be obedient to its owner? I have and in fact I have experienced it as well. Dogs are very obedient to their owners. One way dogs show that they are obedient is that they obey you when you give them a command. When you tell a cat to sit or lay down, they really never do what you tell them to do; they just do whatever they want. For the most part, dogs can almost understand what we tell them to do. Sometimes they won’t understand and do whatever. Whereas cats just do what they please, and they also choose to ignore us. Dogs are a whole lot better to teach than to teach a cat. Why? Dogs mostly do what you say instead of cats where they ignore you and do whatever.…
