Pursuing My Three Major Careers
I have been interested in pursuing a career dealing with computers my whole life. I have been around them since I was young, I find them very fun to play with and very useful too. I have always been interested in software development, and have been creating my own games from a young age. Through my experiences in my career education class, I have discovered many other careers that I could choose. I discovered these other careers because of the many research methods and tests that I took. Two other careers I am interested in are material scientists and composers. I am interested in pursuing all these careers, but as I can only do one, I decided I want to aim my career towards being a software developer. The two other careers for me are exciting to me, but there are some problems that would hurt my ability to perform in those careers. …show more content…

Some careers for musical people are musicians, singers, and composers. I took another survey to help me find potential careers, called a career cluster survey. It helped me conclude that the top three career clusters for me are in information technology, or I.T., science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, called STEM, and business, management, and administration. I removed business, management, and administration because I took an entrepreneurship class in high school, and I thought it would be too difficult, and too risky for me. I like science and technology, and there are many careers under that category which I would like to

Many people hear the word “Military” and automatically think about the infantrymen in the Marine Corps. It’s actually not at all as bad as the media makes it seem. The military has many different branches that focus on a key task. Although, I am in the Army so I will compare that branch to the Marines. Even with the Marines and the Army being ground-based branches and offer many similar career fields, the two branches are different in many crucial areas. To accurately compare and contrast the services, it is important to look at their overall missions and career fields.…

I chose to do the self-assessment of CareerLeader to try and help me get a feel for what career fields connect with my motivations and my interests. My interests rated as a personal high was not a surprise to me with the application of technology, being the highest score with 87. The description behind application of technology was interested in learning about and using new technologies. Enjoy analyzing and designing (or redesigning) business processes such as production and operations systems. Which is relatively true I enjoy doing in-depth research into the newest upcoming technology and how I can use it. The description section about enjoying analyzing the business process stood out to me, I catch myself doing this often in any situation I’m a part of. One thing CareerLeader said to be aware of was if I was seeking a job in the engineering field some places will not accept me if I do not have an engineering degree. I took this interest as being more relatable to the newest technology a company could use to help its sales, finances, and PR.…

Owing to the fact that the competition today is getting tougher and tougher, enterprises are requiring more specific job classifications in order to survive, such as developing new suppliers, material purchasing and supply chain management etc. As a result of this kind of competition, more and more professional purchasing associations spring out throughout the world. This report, however, will just focus on two different purchasing associations. The first one is known as Charted Institute of Purchasing & Supply, which is an international organisation working in purchasing, supply procurement and supply chain management. CIPS is considered as the advanced association in terms of professional procurement. Because of CIPS’s great contribution on procurement industry, it was awarded with the Royal Charter by the Queen of UK in 1992. More significantly, more than 150 countries around the world have adopted the CIPS code of professional ethics as a world standard in ethical guidelines. Another purchasing association will be researched in this report is called Institute for Supply Management, abbreviated as ISM, which was formerly called the National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM). It was the earliest-founded America-based supply management institute in the world, which can be traced back to 1915. However, after 87 years, on January 2002 exactly, the term “ISM” was used as the association’s new name in front of the public. By taking advantages of its cumulative experience and superiorities in its supply management area, such as education, research, standards of excellence and information dissemination, it aims to become the most popular association in supply management profession around the world. It should be mentioned that ISM is distinguished for issuing the renowned monthly ISM Report on Business, which includes the well-known Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI).…
