The quality Improvement Plan is initiated once a problem has been identified. All the facts must be gathered about the situation, and a decision must be made about which clinical areas will be monitored. Also, care outcomes and customer feedback should be taken into consideration. Quality improvement uses data and the process that must be chosen should be one that can be measured to monitor the quality improvement. For a good performance equation, there must be a good statement chosen for the numerator, denominator and for the population that the equation describes. Other items must also be taken into consideration including length of the survey, how the data is collected, how often it is collected, etc.

Karen has volunteered to be involved in the project and she is one of the rehabilitation therapists. She is the woman who originally came to Lauren with the problem and is desperately seeking help for a solution. One of the nurse’s aides will be helpful on the project to give information from the perspective of one who transports the patient from one floor to another and must wait on occasion when the patient isn’t ready. This position may also be short-staffed at times. One of them would be attention to detail. Having the members be detailed in their time keeping will be important in analyzing the information for this project. Another important trait would be sticking with the program all the way through and not giving up. It also helps to have a leader who is very well spoken and who can present the group’s ideas verbally but also in a graphic format that the company’s leaders can understand. One of the most important traits though is being able to get along with all of the other members of the group. With this small number of people involved, there can’t be any arguing or taking sides. Everyone must listen to all sides and come up with a solution that all members can live with. Not all will be happy but all can live with the
