A huge social problem in public schools is racism.
In some areas, racism really isn’t an issue, but it is a lot of schools. Usually racism in children is passed down from their parents being racist. It’s such a shame that people don’t like other people due to their skin color and customs. Due to that, it is causing disruptions in the social aspect of public schools. Another example of a social issue is drug and alcohol abuse. Some where you’re going to have that one group of kids in school that like to experiment with drugs and alcohol and they try to get other students to try it. This can put a lot of unnecessary pressure and stress on innocent students. Also, the students who are into the drugs and alcohol may put school work by way side, causing them their grades and attendance to fall on their
faces.
The issue with the tests could be solved by paying more attention to what students are doing right, and using those methods on what is wrong, rather than coming up with a whole new plan to try and correct the wrongs. Instead of having multiple different “high stake” test, you could easily put them all into one abbreviated test that efficiently meets all requirements without putting unnecessary pressure on students. As for the drug and alcohol issue, they could have monthly drug screenings for students. It may be expensive, but they could use the extra money they received when they got rid of all the unnecessary tests to pay for it. Unfortunately, there is no way to stop racism. People are going to believe what they want and there is no way that you can stop that.
