Cabeza De Vaca traveled to America by boat to establish colonies in Mexico and to reach Mexico city, but he landed near modern Tampa Bay, Florida. The captain of the vessel told all 300 of his men to abandon ship and go on shore. 2 months later with no treasure or ships in sight. The captain told his men to smelt down there firearms to make rafts big enough to carry 50 men on each. Every couple of
days the slaughtered one of there horses for food and to make containers to carry water. Later Cabeza led the men out to see on there rafts and a sea breeze brought them out to see, but Cabeza was on one of the lucky rafts that landed on shore.
Cabeza De Vaca Escape. Cabeza was able to escape his slavery. He escaped with the help of a Native American band which he made friends with. While Cabeza was a slave he got food from the same band that helped him escape. When he escape he miraculously found three other survivors of the same ship he was on. Later on they took a route all the way to Mexico.
His job with the Natives. After he escaped his slavers he went with the same natives that saved him. When one of the band’s people got shot with an arrow Cabeza was able to save the man's life. He was able to save his life by cutting part of the arrow of then opening the wound with his knife and take out the arrow head. This act of kindness earned the respect of the other people in the native band. After that the natives thought of him as a healer.
