SHPEP Summer Program
In this statement, I would like to express my interest in participating in the SHPEP summer program. I was fortunate enough to hear about this summer opportunity when the University of Florida college of public health & health professions visited my school. I’m interested in the program because of the opportunities that this program offers to me as an undergraduate student. With my interest in pursuing a career in either physical therapy or sports medicine, I feel this program will give me a chance to explore these careers. I also see this as a chance to gain some valuable experience that I could use as an advantage when applying to some of the most competitive graduate schools. It is for the reasons in which I’ve expressed that I show such
interest in being able to participate in the SHPEP program for the upcoming summer.
Before I go any further with expressing my interest, I would first like to demonstrate the character and strengths that I possess. What is character? To me, character is the distinct qualities we possess as humans which make us unique. I would describe my character as self-motivated, ambitious, and hardworking. Having these qualities have helped me out tremendously throughout my life. I will describe how I have applied each of these qualities throughout my life. By staying self-motivated, I was able to keep focus on what I wanted out of life, and blocking out the naysayers around me. My ambitious nature factored into my life on multiple occasions, for instance, there was a time when I didn’t make the school football team. I had worked hard to overcome that defeat, not only did I physically develop myself but, I also matured mentally. And I could take many positives from that experience, I became a better football player and a stronger minded person. Hardworking, to me this is my best trait because through hard work I believe there will always be success at the end. On many accounts, I have noticed that if you work harder and just give effort that the results will fall in your favor. I am a firm believer of everything that is worth having doesn't come easy.
