Now-a-days there are multiple reasons as to why a client may be in need of assistance. Life happens, and we all need help at some point or another. There is a variety of agency that can provide the help these clients need, the agencies can be either public or private, and the job of the human service worker is to help the client become more self-sufficient. Human services workers help clients that are unable to help themselves (the elderly and the children). In this day, there are a variety of services geared towards the many needs of the clients. The first steps to providing help to the client is evaluating what their needs are. Then prepare a course of treatment…
In society today, there are numerous issues facing human services clients. Many of those who face these issues may always face substance abuse issues or may be in domestic violence situations. Due to the additional factors, clients may not feel as though they deserve to receive help, and therefore may not seek out the needed help to get their life back on track.…

The four major themes of human services are problems in living; human beings not being able to meet their own needs all the time. Second, the growth number of problems in modern world helps with people not able to get help from family or the community. Third, self-sufficiency giving people the tools needed to provide for themselves. Social care- assisting clients in meeting their social needs, with the focus on those who cannot care for themselves; social control in who receives services and under what conditions they receive them, and rehabilitation is the task of returning an individual to a prior level of functioning (Woodside & McClam, 2011).…

I believe that working for a religious based organization should allow a human services worker to learn that it is ok to work and serve people with different religious beliefs and the ultimate goal should be the clients well-being not his/her conversion. In my opinion, the role of a human service is to help clients in any possible way and this service should not be compromised by forcing or getting religion involved.…

Choosing a career is easy, but sticking with that choice is one of life’s greatest challenges. I was never able to choose a career, because poverty and abuse tricked me into believing that I wouldn’t have a future anywhere. Once I sought shelter at a local non-profit organization in my free time, my volunteer work made it all change, and led to my decision for a career in human services.…

My first and highest interest is homelessness and housing. I find myself passionate about wanting to give homeless or underprivileged individuals and/or families a fresh start. Nothing beats connecting individuals to the right resources, watching them take control back over their lives, and striving to reach their fullest potential. A newer area of interest I have is international social work. I keep finding myself drawn to global poverty and the affects poverty has on the individuals and/or families such as little to no schooling, poor health, high disease rates, starvation, and war. Ultimately, I am interested in helping restore dignity within these individuals and communities by advocacy and through breaking down development barriers.…
